Go to the BIOS menu and select the Main Tab... see if the computer sees your drive. If not send it to the manufacturer or look to see if you can get to the HD without cracking open the main case to the laptop if you can... check the connection from the HD to the connectors to the motherboard

press the fn key on laptop hold it down and then press the power key on the laptop. once u see any display on the screen you will get some tests running on the screen. The system will show you the error message which u need to note down. else you can do a Flea Power on your laptop. Remove the adapter and the battery and then press the power button and hold it down for 30 seconds then connect the battery and adapter back and try to turn on the laptop. See if the magic works for you
If you are running with XP try switching the unit on and pressing F8 while the computer is booting up
This should put you into Safe Mode
If that works go to Start , Accessories, System Tools ,System Restore and if the shop did the right thing when they built it you will have the System Restore function running
Ask the machine to do a System Restore and it should give you a number of dates to restore to, pick on that is a few days before the last update and let it roll
This generally indicates that a sector in the hard drive has failed, and the hard drive will need to be replaced. With a bad sector the drive reads to the point of the bad sector and past the bad sector, but can't put the info together, so it tries to boot, but can't. Unfortunately, your only option is replacing the hard drive.
