Hi,
Firstly make sure the battery is fully charged. Also how old is the battery? It may not have enough of a charge no matter what. You may want to consider purchasing a battery to try it, most stores you could return the battery after using it the once that you would need it to get the tape out, but check the store policy first. I assume you are quite familiar with ejecting the cassette on this unit? If you still have problems and it isn't ejecting properly I would definitely recommend contacting a jvc service facility or any camcorder technician locally. As they have the proper tools and know how to get the tape out without causing any more damage to the tape. If you need help locating one just give me your zip code.
Thank you,

thanks lee the batteries are old but would attaching ac power overcome this problem . my postcode is 2460 nsw australia
thanks barry
the charger is used for charging so the batteries being inefficient enough could definitely cause this problem. I would still try a new battery that is fully charged. Here is contact info for you for australia:

Hope this helps and please keep me updated either way.
Thanks again,
