Check a coverage map. Having nationwide coverage doesn't mean everywhere is covered. It just means that your phone will work where there is cell service. If there is no cell service, like if it's in the middle of nowhere, you won't be able to use the phone. You may need to switch to someone like Verizon if you need better reception. They have the best coverage. (I'm don't use Verizon, I'm just saying) Check Cell Phone Service Area StraightTalk Wireless
If you do not have at least 2 steady bars of reception strength, text messages or pic messages could fail sometimes. If these fail no matter what signal strength, you should contact your phone provider (StraightTalk).
"Contact Service" usually appears on Nokia phones once the phone cannot get reception from your wireless provider.
There are some possible causes of the problem:
1. Defective SIM card - that's why it could not get reception. 2. The Message Center - could be incorrect. The message center should be provider by your wireless provider as well. 3. Last is if there's a problem with the account or with the server.
Contact your wireless provider to verify this issue. They can resolve this problem.
I have the same problem. Contacted 3rd party tech, take sharp pick or equal and there is supposedly a button in the very center of the antenna port of the phone. gently push the pick in the center of the jack and it will trip the switch. I tried it on my second damaged phone and it worked, so far.
