It sounds like you have some experience, which is good. Take the front of the dryer off and remove the belt from the motor and idler pulley. See if u can spin the motor shaft. Chances are it is tight and or stuck completely. You should be able to spin the motor shaft with ease and it keep spinning for a few seconds. If it gives you any sort of resistance, it is dead. It looks like the part number for that motor is 8182471. Unfortunately, it is expensive. The motor will cost around $250. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Dryer blows hot air but the drum won't turn

Pull the back off the dryer and check the drive belt, if it is ok the motor or the motor or the thermal fuse near the motor for being an open circuit. You will need a volt meter for the testing.

Dryer not drying clothes

Hello, does the dryer drum turn? If the dryer drum is moving. Is the dryer blowing hot air, cold air, no air at all? Now, if it's doing everything mention above escept blowing hot air then you'll need a new heating element. If not blow air, then the drum belt is broken, belt off, or the drum motor has gone south. It was put for a quitt. Which mean in New Mexico, they fired me, I don't work, no job, finished, I'am out of here, don't bury me with my wires exposed. I hope I was some help to you. have a nice day and be safe, GB. stewbison

I have a Kenmore 66512690 dryer , when i press the start button, I just get a buzz like it wants to go but it does not. Could this be the motor?

Based on the limited details the motor is either humming instead of starting and running or the motor is running but the drum is not turning.

This symptom could indicate:

  • Broken belt if it's blowing air out the exhaust.
  • Faulty motor
  • Jammed drum
  • Loose wiring connection
  • Object or piece of clothing article jamming the blower wheel.
Open the dryer door and see if you can rotate the drum in a counterclockwise (CCW) direction. If it's very difficult to rotate then it could have something to do with the motor or drum glide. If the drum will not turn then something is likely jamming the blower wheel.

Maytag dryer goes on but clothes are not turning

Can you turn the drum by hand? If not there is something Jammed in the blower housing.Do you hear the motor running? Is there Air blowing out the back? If there is air blowing out & you hear the motor it will be the belt. If you do not hear the motor & no air is blowing out then hold the door switch in & turn it by hand as you push the start switch it might start working, If it does it wont last long. If it does not start it is the motor.

How to change the belt in the kenmore dryer model number 110.62822101. Dryer is not spinning so I would assume its the belt correct?

It is indeed a belt issue if the dryer blows hot air, which means the motor is running, but the drum does not turn. Otherwise, the thermal fuse (part number 3392519) mounted on the blower has failed. This thermal fuse is wired in series with the motor circuit and its failure results in the motor not running and the dryer not working at all.

Remove the dryer real panel to access the blower housing and check the continuity of the thermal fuse. Grab a volt-ohmmeter and set it to the R X 1 scale then disconnect one wire from the thermal fuse terminals then check the continuity of the thermal fuse. Replace the thermal fuse should it read open.

Dryer isn't turning

hello there could be a couple of things wrong the first 1 to check.is see if the long thin pin on the inside of the door still attach some times these snap off if ok then i'd check the capacitor next to the motor it might be white in colour 2 wires coming off it this boost the motor at switch on . as for no heat i'd check the wired connection make sure they are tight if ok then check the heat sensor .all the best

My dryer is tumbling but not blowing air hot nor cold

then you would have a broken fan blade.

because the motor that turns the drum is also the motor that turns the fan blade to blow the air.

open the rear portion of the dryer and you can find the fan blade, made of plastic, being covered by the vertical duct that came from the drum. then the outlet of the fan assembly goes out to the exhaust of the dryer.

another could be problem would be a clogged exhaust duct. check the exhaust duct or the hoce that is attached to it. see to it that it is clean and no blockade.

dryer won't run, but hot air blow and humming when turned on
Belt is off, idler is off or broken. Replace the belt and idler. Make sure it is installed correctly with tension on the belt. It will take care of your problem

When I try and start my ge dbb3300eaoww dryer it buzzes as if it wants to start if I spin it with my hand it will work. I put a new belt on it and it does the same thing.
Motor start switch is bad. This is typically replaceable with out replacing the motor.
Will take care of the problem.

My drum will sometimes stop turning in the middle of a cycle, and the motor just hums. I pause the dryer, open the door, rotate the drum, unplug and plug the electrical, and then it will usually complete the cycle. Does that mean the belt is "occasionally" slipping? How do I check this?
Replace the belt. It has stretched to the point it no longer can carry the load. Should consider replacing the idler at the same time. This will take care of the problem.
