1 Answer

Not cooling Have a Dometic 13500 roof top air cond. We are full timers in our 2004 Open Road 5th wheel. Lately the air will not cool below 81 degrees and it keeps kicking off because the compressor overheats. wait 4 minutes and it comes on again. Air is col but not cold. Have cleaned the coils, etc. Good airflow just not cold air. HELP!!!!

Thanks for your assessment! The coils are clean and the fan is running. Maybe the unit is just too small for to combat this Florida sun.

Check the and see if the condenser fan is running. you will find it if you take the top off also check and see if the condenser coil is clean. if it is dirty or the fan under the top is not running it will cause the compressor to short cycle on limits or overload.

Why will my Dometic air conditioner only cool to 15 degrees below ambient temperature?

A few things can determine that , or cause it. First of all, where are you checking the ambient air temperature and what type of system do you have, is it ducted, blows out of ceiling assy? Has unit been properly cleaned lately? If ducted, have you checked for cool air leaking by to return air box?

I have a Dometic P/N Duo-Therm Model #59516-531 that started running more and more to cool my RV 5th wheel. I checked filter, drain, and noticed the unit was icing up. I turned off AC and let fan run to...

It is probably low on refrigerant. You can only check this if you have a set of gauges. Otherwise, take it to an air cond company and they will check it for you.

We just bought a new 29" 5th wheel camper, that has one 15,000 BTU roof unit. Should this one unit cool the rv?

Yes if its working properly. A 20 degree temp. differential between its supply air and return air its good.

How can I tell if the compressor is coming on on my Coleman 13500 roof top A/C unit? It blows air but not cooling. Thanks

Hi,
When the compressor starts you will hear the unmistakable noise associated with it...there is a definite hum from the compressor...check the t-stat on the unit... they often go bad..

A/C WILL NOT COOL BELOW 83 DEGREES

Hi, could be lack of freon, or motor for refrigeration on roof is short cycling(switching of before cooling, but first check freon(gas) in a/c, could also be faulty thermostat, you can bridge thermostat, open thermostat and if there are two wires connect then and see if cooling get colder, if thermostat are heating & cooling, don't bridge wire, you will let me know brand & model number, of thermostat so i can tell you which two wires to connect. but first check freon(gas) in condenser on roof. good look.
