The base is working as a complete circuit when it is closed completely. Now as the plastic tab which holds battery is broken so the circuit is not getting completed and the software of your camera is not getting message that all parts are functioning accurately. You need that plastic tab or similar tab to fix this problem. Please show your camera in a repair shop and they will get it fixed at very low prize as they normally have such parts with them.

"I jammed a piece of toothpick into the hole on a device that had a similar problem..

The toothpick switched the switch so I glued it in place and snipped off the extra wood.. so the switch is switched permanently."

I read this, and it work beautifully!! That little stupid plastic piece is so small, it fell out and we have no idea where it went, never realized that little thing was so important! stupid

How to remove the write protect on my olymps digita cmera mode no FE-5020

Remove memory card from the camera, look along the one side for small switch, the switch that is furthest from the contacts is in the unlock position allowing access. If you find it is in the unlock position slide it back forth to clean switch contacts, if this fails replace the memory card.

Canon Si5 Lens Error message. Have tried suggestions on line

Welcome to FixYa.

There where wo reasons why do you receive a "lens error".

1. CF card slot cover or battery cover opened with camera on
2 . CF card slot cover or battery cover opened while camera was recording to CF card

In this case you have to ensure that CF card cover and battery cover is closed while camera is turn on.

You also need to be careful not to block the camera lens when turning on. Lens will have issues while retracting if your hands or even small thing that will block the lens to retrack while in motion of turning on.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Why won't my Olympus fe-5020 download photos onto the computer? It is properly plugged in but it won't turn itself on when plugged into the computer.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Broken battery compartment door switch

The switch is a micro switch that is depressed(and not sad :)) by a plastic tag moulded on the battery cover. Once the cover is moved into position and closed, the tag presses on the micro switch closing the switch and thus removing the error message. As with any switch, a switch is simply open or closed, Open = high resistance or O/L, while closed = 0 ohms reistance. You can use a small wire to overcome the switch by soldering the wire to both tags of the switch so it is permenantly 0 ohms. This will send a message to the microprocessor that cover is closed and camera ready for use. Hope this helps.

Error message: battery cover open. This message appears in the window and will not let me operate camera until problem is resolved. The cover is closed, but the message will not go away. I have re-set...

Hi X,
There's a little piece of plastic on the battery cover, that presses a switch when you slide the cover closed. Check that manually with a tooth pick and the the battery in place. Don't smash it. I have a Olympus FE -280 and it only happens when I put the cheap Chinese battery in.
If you are in the least uncertain, call Customer Service.
Best regards, Paul

Yes I had the same problem, however, where is says "push to eject," it means to push the the memory card down and it will eject. You pushed down the latch for the plastic door cover. Try pushing something into the hole so the camera thinks the door is closed. I am still having trouble with mine. Hope this helps alittle.
