1. There should be a cover on the bottom with a release lip the batteries are here to replace. this is located right below the on/off button.

My Staples Wireless Optical Mouse battery door is on the top at the back behind the mouse buttons. On the top, at the very back of the mouse, the cover comes to a point. Simply pry open that back with your fingernail and the door will lift. It is not on the bottom, nor does the door slide.

My optical mouse KU916AA isnt connecting to the USB receiver. I have fresh batteries in it, but im not sure what button to push.

Hi,

Go to this Microsoft article and read through: Microsoft kb838398

The steps here includes all troubleshooting you can use for response failures in wireless keyboard and mouse.

If the steps did not resolve your issue, try unplugging the receiver first and reboot the computer. Plug back the receiver and reboot again. This is to refresh the cmos of your wireless keyboard and mouse settings.

If all of these fails, your mouse is deemed defective.

Hope this works for you.

See if there is a Win 7 driver for the USB device as the one you have may not be for Win 7. Check with the manufacturer. You may also want to check device manager and make sure all devices are enabled and functioning. I hope this helped. Good luck and have a pleasant day.

Changing the batteries in a hp optical wireless mouse

From pictures, it looks like the top part of that mouse slide down.

Try holding it with the buttons facing toward you, and pushing with your thumbs on the top silver piece of the mouse away from you.

Assuming it''s still fairly new and the batteries are still fresh, my guess is the hub that plugged into the laptop is loose or you're trying to use the mouse in an area that it can't communicate with the hub. I do hope this solves your problem and we all feel rather stupid the first time we have a computer problem until someone explains it!

Make sure the batteries are inserted correctly, and press the connect button on the bottom of the mouse. Also check to see if there is a button on the reciever, you would have to press that first.
