Don't feel bad or dumb. Virtually everyone (including me) made the same mistake you did. The owner's manual does explain the entire process thoroughly and correctly, on pages 30-31 under TIMER RECORDING.

Using the TIMER button on the remote control permits you to build a list of up to (8) future video programming event(s) you wish to record. You performed that part of the process exactly right. However, you merely failed to place the unit in the STANDBY MODE by pressing the TIMER SET button on the remote control, which is the FINAL step in the process!

Placing the unit in STANDBY MODE effectively powers it down, just as if you'd turned it OFF as you normally do. The difference being, when the unit's in STANDY MODE it'll automatically turn itself ON, tune to the correct channel and begin recording at the start-time specified, in the entry you made using the TIMER menu. Certainly, it would've been far more intuitive if they'd named the button STANDBY instead of TIMER SET.

If you want to use your DVDR in the meanwhile to view a DVD or VHS movie, just press the TIMER SET button on the remote control again to take it out of STANDBY mode. Just be darn sure to reinsert a BLANK DVD back in the tray and place the unit back in STANDY MODE again, once you're done.

While overseas products (such as those made in China) are dazzlingly low in cost (due to slave labor wages) we must remember the documentation's written by people whose native language and culture is NOT the same as ours. This becomes painfully apparent upon having to decipher the documentation accompanying such products.

Let me know if you need any further help

Hi,

You can do a hard reset buy unpluging all the cords from the back of the player for 30min and then plug it back.

Goodluck..

Try disconnecting from power and connecting back, if it does not fix it bring it back, it is faulty.

Wont power up, after we had a power surge. It was connected to power strip surge protector, but has not been able to power up since. can it be a fuse problem, or more? magnavox dvd recorder mwr10d6

Apower surge can travel quicker than a surge protector can activate. And a replacement fuse may not fix your DVD. On one occasion I did replace a fuse in one of these after a power surge and the DVD/VCR did comeback to life. You may try...but the odds are against you and you will have to purchase a new one!

I have a magnavox mwr10d6 recorder. Errors keep coming up cannot record on disk e454037380

The disk might not have been finalized in the program that it was recorded on. If this is not the case unplug your recorder for 60 seconds and then plug it back in this resets the recorder.

I am a member of a paranormal group. Can I use my magnavox MWR10D6 DVD recorder to record from a cam. Is this possible?

As long as your DVD recorder has line inputs yes you can.

If your DVD recorder has a DV input, you can use a firewire cable. If your DVD recorder has audio and video inputs you can hook the output of your camera to the line inputs of your recorder and record in realtime
Most DVD recorders do have inputs, you can use either the Y/C (black round connector) or the composite (yellow connector) along with the audio inputs (red & white) RCA plugs depending on the type of camera you are using.

Dvd player

Are you using a DVD+RW disk? Unlike DVD-R, DVD+R and DVD-RW disks you cannot finalize DVD+RW disks on the Magnavox MWR10D6 DVD Recorder. Instead you have to make the disk compatable [Make Edits Compatible], this allows you to close the disk and play it on other DVD players.

go to: Setup ==> Edit Disk ==> Make Edits Compatible ==> Yes

Other than this nothing else comes to mind to troubleshoot this problem. Hope this helps.

Dvd hook up

Yes you have to use the front connection for the vcr and the back for the cable. Channel E1(Rear) will be the back connection and E2(Front) will be the front connection.
