''Error 1706'' I keep getting ''Error 1706'' when trying to install a program and am looking for a solution in simple English and/or step by step instructions as to how to resolve this problem. Microsoft's solution leaves me confused, it seems some part of their solution is missing.

I am trying to complete a download, over the internet, the program is partially there and usable except for all the bells and whistles. When I open the program a window appears telling me Windows is configuring, which tries to happen then another window opens telling me the path is unavailable. When closing all these windows I come to one stating "Error 1706". Thanks for helping.

My colleague says that when Error 1706 occurs during an attempt to install an MSI file from removable media, the first thing you should try to do is check the Media Package Pathway and determine if the pathway does in fact track to the right folder. If it does not, scan the removable media and locate the file where the MSI file is housed. In some cases, you may find that the MSI file is found in a folder that is named App1. Once you have determined where to find the right file, it is a matter of resetting the Media Package Pathway so that the system will find and activate the MSI file. This will require you to make some changes to the command line or possibly make a permanent change in the registry.
It is important to note that making changes in the command line and especially in the registry are functions that someone who is familiar with writing code and general information system functions should perform.
If you are not knowledgeable about these sorts of functions, there is every possibility that the modification will not result in resolving the issue regarding the MSI file. Further, the change may create additional problems with the media package.

Error 1706 is usually displayed at run time when a program is installed using Install Shield. You can fix it or install the files by accessing the bios setup.. On the boot section choose the drive where the file to be installed is located to be the first one to boot. If it is on the CD drive choose Cd drive then save and exit setup.

I need to write a program for interpolation and i dont know how

Do not get me wrong! I have no such program to give you, but a few recommendations.
Read the theory on interpolation and understand it well. Choose one interpolation algorithm-look for something that is not too complicated.
Write a program in your native language (preferably English, because the commands of the TI89Titanium are in English):
  1. Starting from the initial data, state the sequence of steps you would have to perform to get the end result. That is the algorithm.
  2. Translate the steps in abbreviated English (pseudo code).
  3. Better write a step for each action (instruction)
  4. Run it in your head. Use some simple data that you could find in books, references.
  5. If you see that the program should do, translate each statement in the language of the TI89 Titanium.
  6. Respect the syntax of the commands
  7. All the available commands are detailed in the appendix to the book. There, you find each single command with its syntax, parameters, variables, and error conditions).
You can try education.ti.com or ticalc.org for any program you might look at to get some inspiration.

Hi, when I start my IBM laptop I received an Unload error "1706 no valid unload source could be found for product." What does that mean and how do I repair the problem? I am using Windows XP.

as per my experince
I suspect your problem is related to the fact that you are loading
software on CD-ROMs from a DVD drive and XP is having problems
locating the drivers but the fix isn't simple.
Microsoft says that Error 1706 is a Microsoft Office Error code which
indicates that required files can not be found by Setup. Since you
are trying to install new programs I feel that this is probably the
correct interpretation of your error code.

Just get another install disk. Borrow one from a friend.

Then all you will need is your serial number.

Reinstall and try that.

Problems installing ms office pro 2007

hi Error 1706 is a Microsoft error that is sometimes generated when you install a Windows package from some form of removable data. Examples of removable data would be a CD-ROM or a DVD. Typically, the exact text of Error 1706 will include the phrase "no valid source could be found."
One of the usual causes of this problem is that the Windows Installer or MSI file is not residing in the root folder of the media that is found on the removable data. This does not mean that the MSI file is not somewhere on the media -- just that it is not in the folder that your system is checking. While, in most cases, the Media Package Path would be altered to create a clear path to the MSI file.

thank you

Error 1706 & error occured while loading savrt32.dll

They are the manual instructions but Symantec to have an automatic removal tool floating around. put the CD back in the drive (or get access to it from it's directory or whatever) then repair it as follows:

C:\> msiexec /i "D:\SAV\Symantec AntiVirus.msi"

let it go through it's dog&pony show then when it's done, uninstall it properley:

C:\> msiexec /x "D:\SAV\Symantec AntiVirus.msi" or

Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility package from:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe

Install and run. Remove the offending Symantec Install Package from the list. Wella.
