My Miele dishwasher turns on, drains the current water, introduces new water...but then the intake/drain light starts flashing and it stops. I cleaned the water intake filter. It seems to be draining perfectly fine. I cleaned the drain filter and all parts associated with drainage. Like I said, the water seems to be draining fine. And water is coming in. But still the flashing light! Help!
I have exact same symptons, please someone help. I have had issue before where the plumbing backed up so it overflowed into the catch tray. Then that has to be vacummed out and then just start a new cycle. This time there is no water in the overflow tray....

that is just an indicator that your salt is low. it will stay on until you refill the water softener with softener salt. it will not affect the dishwasher to run it without the salt. the water for your final rinse will not be softened.
The Intake light is also the Drain error light. If the light is flashing, then turn off the dishwasher and clean the triple filter, the drain pump and the non return valve and make sure that there are no kinks in the drain hose.
Make sure the water is ccoming in at a pressure above 4.5 psi. Also make sure that the water valve is open and clean the water intake filter.
The final possibility is that the Waterproof system has tripped and you need a Miele technician to service the unit.
Hello RD, Every Miele dishwasher is designed to drain water in the first 30 seconds of any cycle. Does your intake/drain light come on at all? Miele technical services can troubleshoot the fault code if you do get an intake/drain light. The most common issue I have seen is that the dishwasher drain line is clogged. Solution - Try checking the airgap at the top of your sink, if nothing there then check the end of the drain line usually connected to the garbage disposal if you have one. I would reccomend disconnecting the end of the drain line and putting it into a bucket. Let the dishwasher run for 30 seconds and if it drains then its a problem with your garbage disposal. If not I would contact Miele technical support to troubleshoot the fault code
When this happens with my dishwasher it usually means that the drain is clogged with food/debris. To fix
1) remove bottom dish rack from machine
2) using a small cup, scoop out as much water as possible
3) remove inlet drain cover and unsnap the plastic insert and remove
4) rinse the plastic part and reinstall
5) start machine
6) if light still flashes, repeat steps 3 4 and 5 and restart
this can happen after inactivity. the circulation pump seal sticks and wont turn . when the dishwasher starts to fill the circulation pump is pulsed on to see if the preasure switch switches over (to see if water is getting into the dishwasher) if the pump does not turn there is no preasure and the machine stops thinking no water has entered. turn pump by hand to cure.
My Miele Incognito dishwasher kept getting an error with intake/drain light. The light flashed 5 times. Phoned Miele Technical Support to investigate the problem. The problem is that a seal in the bottom of the dishwasher has failed and there was water in the motor pan. Currently, $175 service charge for the technician to come look at it.
I don't want to spend $175+ to have them replace a 75 cent rubber gasket that I could replace on my own.
