C: is your "desktop had drive". Anything you want to find that you know exists there you'll find by clicking start - Search - C drive - modified...

Then again just open your C hard drive, right click the files you want to "copy, or permanently move" to D or what ever external drive you have. This will do the job.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Recreate the Show Desktop icon on the Quick Launch toolbar

To re-create the Show Desktop icon on the Quick Launch
toolbar, follow these steps....

1. Use any text editor (such as Notepad) to create a
file with the following lines:
[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop
2. Save the new file as a file named Show Desktop.scf
in the WindowsSystem or WinntSystem32 folder. Note
that Notepad may automatically append a .txt extension
to the file name. Remove this extension if Notepad
adds it. These steps do not work if the file is named
Show Desktop.scf.txt.
3. Quit Notepad.
4. Using Windows Explorer or My Computer, right-click
the Show Desktop .scf file, and then click Create
Shortcut.
5. Copy the new shortcut to the appropriate folder. In
Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows 98, copy the shortcut
to this folder: WindowsApplication DataMicrosoftInternet
ExplorerQuick Launch

In Microsoft Windows NT or Microsoft Windows 2000,
copy the shortcut to this folder: WinNTSystem32
In Microsoft Windows XP, copy the shortcut to the
following folder: WINDOWSSystem32ConfigSystemprofileApplication
DataMicrosoftInternet ExplorerQuick Launch

6. Rename the shortcut to Desktop.
The Show Desktop icon automatically appears on the
Quick Launch toolbar.

Victim of software counterfeiting

You need to get your license key and update your software with the license.

If you are using a pirated version then you have to format the computer and install everything to remove it.

How to remove the popup message from my desktop -You may be a victim of counterfeit software.

Hi, hiddu_hh, unfortunate it seem that a (Software) product, is identified as a Non-License / Non-Certified product. This means that as long as the Software is installed in your computer the message will keep (popping) up. To get rid of the message; the software must be removed / uninstalled. Thanks paul70f9

There is not much you can do it you purchased pirated software. Below is a list of just about all you can legally do. Number two below is the only one that will get you a free legal copy of Windows.
  1. Purchase a valid Windows XP cd-key online from Microsoft.
  2. If you can produce high-quality counterfeit media, along with a proof of purchase, you can get a free replacement key from Microsoft.
  3. Contact your reseller for redress.
  4. Purchase Windows XP from a local OEM reseller.
  5. Purchase Windows XP at a retail location.

Connecting my laptop wirelessly to my desktop

You will need to first allow sharing of files and folders.

Then, in Windows Explorer, right click the directory of the files you want to share.

Then, on the computer that you want to access the shared files of the other computer, you will need to login to that computer by scrolling down to Computers near me and finding the computer you want to access. Login.

At least that how I do it.

Let me know if this works for you, or I will find a website to point you to.

Need to download a Microsoft Word article from XP system to a memory stick

Usually you just put the memory stick in the back of the computer in a usb drive, wait for it to load up , then you have multiple  options.
First you can go into word and save it directly to the jump drive... this is doe by selection "my Computer on the sleft side of the save prmpt then finding the jump drive.
Second you can save the file to a known location like the desktop then right click the file and click "send to" and findyour jumpdrive it should be at the bottom.
Or if it is already saved to a specific location, like "My Documents" just right click your start button, clcik "explore" then on the left pannel got to the location it is in and click it, then on the right pannel find your file and copy it "right click then copy", then on the left pannel find your jumpdrive and click it then on the right panel right click and hit paste.
hope this helps.
