You probley have a briggs & stratton engine. If so, look for the engine model number which will be on the cover. You will need model number and type number. Your carberator will be part of the engine specs. Then you can go online to

and find the kit you need or take model and type numbers to your local lawn mower dealer and they will either have it in stock or order it for you. Cost is around 15 bucks.

My Troy Built leaf blower starts, but won't stay running. I bought it two years ago and it's rarely used.

Once you determine there is no holes in the gas line or that the gas filter is not bad I suspect the carb. will need to be rebuilt. It is not a bad job. Just remove the carb. note the number on the carb. and go to most lawn mower shop and they can provide you with a rebuild kit. You tube has videos on what and how to do the rebuild. Hope this helps.

  1. Replace carb or,
  2. Overhaul carb or,
  3. Try one of the new "on-engine" carb cleaner-solvent kits which are available at most auto parts stores.
I've never tried one of these kits so I don't know if they actually work, or are just another marketing "pretty face!"

My 4 cycle BP blower will run with the choke halfway, but not fully opened or fully closed. The throttle will not increase speed, either. What would you suggest? It takes a good 5 minutes with choke...

The carburetor needs to be cleaned and/or adjusted so if you do that, you may as well install a low price gasket and diaphragm kit in it. This will alleviate all the problems that you mention. I don't know your model number else I could give you the part number for the carb kit to install. This solution works most of the time.

TBSS70. Starts fine, will continue to run if I hold the choke flip switch in the start ( choked) position. If let the choke flip switch go the engine with run at higher RPM for a few seconds...

If you have not touched the idle screws and you have had this unit for a while, all you need to do is buy a carb kit for your carb model and rebuild the carb. Go to your local repair shop and give them the number off of your carb and they will sell you a kit for that model carb. Go to they have a video you can watch to learn how to accomplish this task or get on you tube you will find all sorts of tutorials there. Good Luck.. gbell the 3rd.

I tried to start my troy vac/blower and it takes for ever to start and when i used the vacuum it runs slower and finally stalls and wont start backup

Your machine probably needs: 1. the carburetor adjusted 2. The carburetor cleaned 3. A gasket and diaghram kit installed in the carb

1. To adjust:
2. To clean: Remove, disassemble and clean. Here are the carb parts: (Only clean the metal parts)
3. Gasket and diaghragm Kit: You will need to know the carb model (probably a Zama)
Find the model of your repair kit here:
An RB kit is a complete rebuild kit (contains all the parts in the G & D kit)
A G & D kit is a gasket and diaghragm kit and will cure most of the carbs ills.
Many online vendors sell these and there are an abundance of them on Ebay.

Troy built weedeater 70ss gas engine will not run

The needle and seat (esp. the needle) meter the amount of gas/oil that is being allowed into the metering chamber of the carb for use by the engine. Your problem does seem fuel related. These carbs are very temperamental and scare most folks. A guide to how they work can be found here:
This will give you an understanding of what exactly you are dealing with. You may only require a diaghram kit or rebuild kit to get the carb back to the functionality it was designed for. That info can be found here once you know your carbs exact model number.
A troubleshooting guide for these carbs is included in the first pdf file, look it over maybe and see what you think. Post back maybe later after going to school (doesn't hurt to learn how they work). We will be here. I know you want to use this machine (its the growing season) but there are so many things that can be wrong that it needs to be narrowed down...sounds like fuel starvation and just may need to clean the inside of the carb with something like the brake parts cleaner spray. It is non-flammable and doesn't damage the sensitive parts inside these carburetors the way ehanol and harsh carb/chokle sprays and strong solvents due...NEVER soak these carbs in a "Gunk style" carb cleaning will seriously damage sensitive internal parts and check valves!

Need brand/model no for my troy bilt 475SS carburetor

Have you looked on the Carb itself? If you look closely you should see a name and some type of marking of the model number.
Also look up the model number of your blower at and you should be able to the owners manual from there (which should have it).
