Hi, to change your account to "Administrator" click on the "[Start] button. Next, in the "Start Search Window" type: user, in the next window, select "User Accounts." Now once the [User Account], window open, there will be a list of changes that can be made, the one that you are most interested in is the "Change your account type" the wording may be different, depending on the Computer you have. "Do not change the {"NAME"} because most of the information that you have in "Folders and Files are already created with the "User's Name" in your account. "Do not {Delete} the account. "Rating the solution will be helpful to me; by letting me know if it was of help? Thanks!"

How can I regain administrative functions on my HP 110-210?

you might have logged in as a regular user and not under an administrative account. if someone helped you set up your computer chances are there should be at least another user with administrative privileges that might have created your computer user account. if that's not the case, try this:

Tip

Why some things dont work with vista or windows 7

The most common issue people have with these new OS systems,(windows 7/vista) is that they have a new form of security called 'administrator privileges'. Basically, your average user doesn't know about this, because most installation CD's or DVD's just auto-run when you insert them, and unfortunately, the computer most of the time does not prompt you to do anything special at all, and the software just installs. But underneath that installation, certain 'privileges' have been allocated to that installation, so here's the tip; Whenever installing new hardware or software, be sure to stop the auto-run feature, or close it down if it starts by itself, right click the disc or file where you are installing from, and select 'run as administrator'. If you are not the administrator, or do not have access to that privilege, then I suggest getting that access, or get the person who has it to give it to you! If you are installing from disc, go to Start>Computer and the disc should show there. Right click on it, select 'open' or 'explore', find the installation file (usually a .exe file) and go through the procedure above. Enjoy!

I'm trying to install a program and my computer keeps telling me I don't have administrator privileges?

That happens when you are running a user account that is not the administrator account. In many ways this is smart because trojans and viruses have the same trouble installing. In schools or office buildings where they want to control who installs what on the computers it makes less problems for an administrator to fix. In your case switch users and log into your administrator account in control panel see if you can give your usual user account administrator privileges, shut down administrator account and log into your usual account and see if it now has administrator privileges in the control panel/user accounts. If not then install software while logged in the administrator account but install for all users from now on. Or you can only use the administrator account and set it up the way you like it (like your regular user account)

Cisco vpn disconnection through sonicwall firewall

This may sounds obvious but have you forwarded the correct ports through sonicwall for your VPN?
If you have, do you have any QoS running, it could be worth checking that VPN has priority over VoIP etc.
Do you get disconnects all the time or is it only during busy periods? You may be overloading your server, perhaps it's time for more RAM.

Hey there; I couldn't install programs on my PC since I have no admin. previlage. How can I do that on my account? my PC is networked and network administred.

You can install programs on your PC ONLY with Administrator privileges!
It could be either by logging in as an administrator (or any other account with administrative privileges; Sometimes even Power User privileges is enough) OR right-clicking on the setup file of the program and choosing "Run as..." and specifying a suitable user account.
Other way will be cracking/resetting the Administrator's password - but I won't get into it... Anyway, it's probably set on a server and not in your local PC.

PS: You can ask your network administrator to grant you privileges as a local administrator (ie, only for your own PC) - if he agreed - that should solve your problem! :)

ADMINSTRATOR PASSWORD HAVE FORGOTTEN IT AND NEED IT

Hello !

If you are truly referring to the Administrator account and not an account with Administrator privileges and added a password and have forgotten, the only alternative is to reinstall the operating system.

If you are referring to an account with Administrator privileges, access the Administrator account via Safe Mode (press F8 repeatedly upon booting) and login with Administrator and no password. Go to Control Panel - User Accounts and reset the user's password.

Hope this helps.
