Thanks for the help, but I'm not into checking capacitors. Not my thing. The TV has been recycled. Time for new.

    Thanks again.

Pix tube has nothing to do with set powering on or off. Bad advise! If sides are sucking in it is a horizontal power problem and power supply must be checked by professional. Stop looking for a "broken wire etc"

Works fine 30 minutes then no picture

Q502 must be top-shelf , first-quality only = no generic.
Use RCA 237470 or Sony 8-729-035-75 Both are first quality,
but RCA much less expensive..............................T.

Please rate this solution......................

Note:Blow-up caused by bad connects in horizontal driver
circuitry.Therefore,save your good,used flyback!

I sorry to say I think you have a component failing that is related to heat. 15 years is a long time and if the TV was used in hpot conditions over the years it may well be the proble, or it's just old.

May be power supply related (old capacitors),dry joints on the main board or dry joints in the video amp section. Check for loose or bad connections. Good luck,JUS004

Sony tv snow for first 5 minutes on

Probably dry solder joints in the tuner section.

When the set warms up, the faulty joint/s make contact, then lose contact again when it cools down.

Picture issue

this error is mostly caused by a defective line output transformer T511 (partnumber 1-453-308-31) and line output transistor Q533 (partnumber 9-948-014-40).
Also resistor R518 (2k7, SMD) could have been damaged.
All components are located on the main (A-) board.

Delay to see the picture

Your power supply is going south, I have an old sony with the same problem. The voltage level drops and does not have enough 'kick' to start. It will work better when it is warm. The module will need to be replaced.

Picture darker/less color/smaller until warm up

Hi there!
Have you checked for dust on the Tubes and mirror? This may cause a bad picture quality. Also power supply related problems like capacitors can cause a dark picture. Try replacing some of them in the power supply area and line stage. Also adjustments in the service mode, but for this you will need the service manual. Good Luck,JUS004
