TV will not come on. The on off button flashes 3 or 4 times and then the light goes out

Thanks for using FixYa. On the Deflection board there are 3 capacitors CP 114, 120 and 150. If any of them is puffed up on top replace all the 3 capacitors CP150 2200UF 16 other 2 are 220UF 35v they will be green with gold writing on them. Resolder all pins on Fly Back Transformer (FBT) also. FBT could be in the power supply. Check the SMPS and in any event replace CP 120: 330UF/35V/HF & CP 150: 2200UF/16V/HF (May be bulged or vented).     i am just a regular guy trying to fix this problem. i don't even have a tool to open the back of the tv

OK please find above your user manual, and below that two technical training and service manual. Your problem is to do with your power Supply, It has shut down for safety reasons, to avoid a fire and explosion or both.
With this symptom, it is impossible to tell what the exact "Cause" of this symptom is. The LED's do not tell us what is exactly what's wrong, sometimes it may indicate the "Area" in your case it is the X board. BUT thats NOT where the "Fault is" thats just the part that is affected. These days unlike the "Old" analogue days it just isn't realistically possible to fix anything but the most basic of problems with todays sophisticated units. This is quite apart from the Safety aspect, any unit that can cause a firs or have an explosion, or both, is NOT to be treated lightly, and and the repairer, of the unit is legally responsible, another thing to think about. Also, one must have tools, a Multimeter, a soldering iron, a deslodering iron, an oscilloscope, a signal tracer, tools, and most important of all, a Service Manual, without which, there is no way to even begin to understand and fix it, and more importantly Program it, AFTER it has been fixed. As these days a TV, is a PC, a Tuner, and an HDTV Monitor, and more, all in one. in the "old" days TV"s were more, rudimentary, and built to last for 20 years, and a "Parts" supply was set aside. They usually used to fail for only a few reasons, and they while still difficult, were less difficult to repair. Electrical knowledge was transferable, and they could be and would respond to, This-is-the-symptom-This-us-the-Fix, But that no longer applies, as now, it can be a Fault on I squared Bus, or "Sensor" failure, or it simple may have "Crashed" just like a PC, It could be a Diode go bad, and that will stop the whole thing. You see, in the day, the sets were Very "Fault Tolerant" because they were Analouge, and a faulty, component, or more sometimes, the set would always diplay something usually, and when they didn't it was one of anly a few things, sure there are always the horrid ones, and there are pleanty of those, but all in all it was quite easy. But with Digital Electronics, it either goes, or it doesnt, there are usualy few half measures. I mean thats the definition of logic either going or not. So it can take very little to completely paralyse a set, and generally give the only sysmptom, it can, by not working, usually No picture, or the like. So you, see the list is endless almost for any given SYMPTOM, as that is what is being seen, not the cause, as I keep going on about. Also any fault, usually involves the Power Supply, it is either the cause, the cause of the damage, or it is damaged. or ALL of them. Then after you have done the electronic repairs, you then must program the set to work, and align, and set up in general, any one of those settings missed or done wrong, back to square one. So, it is nearly always my professional opinion that one should always get a "Quote" form the manufacturers recommended service center, I cannot stress how important that last point is. It is even worth the cost of shipping. you see an authorised service agent, will have trained staff, trained on their brand, also they have first hand access to parts, original parts. This will actually save you money and ensure you can actually get it back fixed. Of course asking for a "Quote" also gives on the option of repair or replace. Often my clients,do not go through with repair, unless it is moderate, but in some of the more costly jobs they see it, as do i, that a replacement, with a warranty, is a better option. As an aside here, one could then tear the TV down, and sell the Known Good bits. You'd be surprised who needs parts, i myself often must by from third party sources to effect a repair. So money could be recouped, somewhat,and help out someone else.

Need remote code for an RCA television


I have had several remotes; 1 was RCA. Hi! I will be more than glad to assist you in this concern. this are the tv codes for sanyo. 542, 589, 590, 591, 592,
609. this is how to reprogram you remote to the sanyo tv. you need to press and hold the tv button that is on the upper portion of the remote, on the right side of the sat button. wait until all mode lights lit up, once all lights lit up, release it and then press number ex.. 542 then followed by the pound button, then you will see that the pound button will flash 3 times, it means that the code is program to the remote. note: while your doing the reprogramming of the remote you need to be in front of the tv about 2 to 3 feet away and the tv should be on.. granting u try all the code and none of them works.. try to scan the code of the tv by pressing and hold the tv button wait until all mode light lit up, then press 500 then pound, tv button will flash 3 times, lets say the last code is 500 and it did not work, press again the tv button and wait until all mode lights up, press on the re tv button if you have, but just incase u have only 1 red button for the power, press it once, then press the up button every 1 sec for 5mins. once the tv turn off then press the pound button and the tv button will flash 3 times, it means that you got the code for the sanyo tv, to check the code: Press the POUND (#) button twice. The mode button
flashes the number for each digit of the device code, with a pause between the groups of flashes. A quick flash is for zero. For example, if the code is 570, the mode button flashes five times, pauses, flashes seven times, pauses, and flashes once quickly... lets say that this remote works before with the sanyo and suddenly it quit working , pls call 1-800-333-3474 and ask for the replacement for the dishnetwork remote, remote is bad. please feel free to get in touch if you have any query..

I have a Rogers HD cable box and want to control my Soyo HDTV with it. I look in the Rogers manual but could not locate the device code. Can you tell me what it might be?


first you have to know witch remote you have there is a 3 button witch has vcr tv and cbl at the top that one there press tv and select at the same time untill the light flashes 3 times release then enter 9-9-1 the pres the tv button untill the tv turns off if you have the newest 5 button remote you will press tv release press and hold setup untill light flash's 3 times then enter 9-9-1 light will flash once entered then press ch+ sevral times untill your tv turns off once tv turns off stop and press setup and that will lock the code inplace i hope that helps

Timer light is flashing but tv wont turn on!


When the timer light stoped flashing the remote control would not turn on the TV. The next time the light quit flashing I held the power button in on the TV for about 5 seconds and it came on and has had no problems since then with the remote or the local TV power button.

RCA Scenium HTV won't turn on


My tv is about not even 3 years old, the bulb was already replaced once and now the tv will not turn on, we replaced the bulb again, but no change... The blue lights come on and flash but eventually turn off.

Sony 57" rear prijection TV has a fast flashing light and will not turn on


turn on tv, after a few minutes picture goes black, but still have sound. red light blinks 5 times,turn set off same thing happens when you turn set back on. some times it want do it for 10 min.

I have a 56" model that I have had a similar problem. My bulb burned out in <90 days. Warranty was 90 days on the bulb itself. When the TV picture goes out, the indicator LEDS blink on and off.

Here is what you have to determine:

1) First cover the left LED with a piece of paper so that you can't see it blinking. I don't know if your layout is the same as my TV. You may have to switch the paper blocking the LED.

2) Pay attention to the other LED and READ its' flashing code. In my case, the code was 2-3. It would flash 2 times, pause briefly, then flash 3 times. This meant code 23. That indicated the bulb was burned out.

3) If you look in the manual, It does have a code list of some sorts to tell you of the codes and their meanings. Hope this helps.

you red crt is shorting out.tap the neck of the red crt lightly to try to remove the short.if no go also inspect the neck board.
