Is the Virus on your PC or on USB Device

If on PC then Format the PC wit the Corresponding Operating System.

If it is on a Drive or on USB Device right click on My Computer go to Manage -> Disk Management -> Permissions -> Allow All -> Apply -> ok -> then try formatting

It apllies same to all the drives as well

I need to reformat my system due to a virus. I do not have the boot disk. what is the procedure i have to follow

while reformatting is a good idea/solution to follow. I would recommend trying to use malwarebytes free edition first. it may be that it will remove your virus problems and there will be no need for a reformat. I have had many viruses in the past.. and have had LOTS of experience removing them and malwarebytes has come through 100% of the time! you can download it on malwarebytes site or here to give it a shot

How can I remove virus from my Digital Camera coz it cant copy fotos to my PC? please do favor

Reformat the card.

Presumably you have a card reader, and presumably that card, when inserted, appears as another drive on your computer.

"Reformat it. Remove any data you want to keep first, but then reformat it."

That will erase everything from the card. Data. Viruses. Spyware. Everything.

If for some reason you cannot reformat it on your computer, then once again, copy off the data you want to keep, and use your camera or other device to reformat it; most have this as an option.

good luck

and so rate the solution if got help

I have a nikon d40 and have picked up a virus on the memory card. My Virus scan gave me the option of heal, however now the dcim file has disappeared and i cannot download the pics which are stil on the...

Once the dcim is removed there is no logarithm to find and rebuild them when they are in transfer of data.

There are some utilities that can guess as near as possible to the data required to build the pics, but my understanding of of these is that they are not reliable.

Even though you have removed the virus reformat the card anyway.

Please rate my help++++Thanks for using FIXYA

Don't reformat it just yet. Tell us what OS you are using, and I can try to help.
I will assume you are using WIndows XP or Vista - what you can do, assuming you have kept your PC up-to-date, is try to run the inbuilt Microsoft anti-malware program.
Click Start, Run, type MRT and press Enter or click OK.
You should get the February 2009 version of the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool.
Do a quick scan and see what comes up. If anything is found, reboot and repeat the process doing a full scan (can take several hours).
That should fix and remove the most common virus infections. Let me know how you get on.

If you still need to reformat, you need to use the Dell recovery CDs that came with your laptop. These were a blue recovery/drivers CD and a purple CD for Windows XP sp1 or a green CD for Windows XP sp2. Not sure about other versions of Windows. There is no magic button to reformat with Dell laptops.
