Hello,

First check that any muting control is not activated. This might be a button on the remote or set itself. If you have a headphone jack, it may have dirty contacts as plugging in a headphone usually mutes the speaker.

If the set is mono or only one channel of a stereo set is out, then check for bad connections to the loudspeaker. Test the loudspeaker by disconnecting one of the wires (with the power off!) and measuring its resistance with an ohmmeter (it should be less than 100 ohms - probably less than 8 ohms). Or momentarily touch a 1.5 volt battery to the speaker terminals - you should get a click or pop from the speaker.

Next, trace back from the speaker output terminals to the circuit board and look for bad solder connections or a loose or dirty connector.

If these tests do not reveal anything, you probably need a scope (or audio signal tracer) and schematic. Or at least the part number off of the chip. Is the final amp a chip also or just a transistor? Have you tested the transistor? If there is little or no buzz from the speaker, that would indicate a problem fairly near the output. If the tuner/if were bad, I would expect some noise/hum pickup from the low level audio stages. Get the part number off of the chip. If it is in a socket, check the contacts for corrosion or looseness.
Hope this helps...

Password problems If you are locked out of your computer because you forgot the password, obtain PowerSuite 2009 or 2010, a utility disc that self-starts from your CD DVD drive when you start up the computer considering the CD DVD drive is your first boot selection. One option of the program is seeking Passwords whereby a search is performed and the passwords located. Once that happens, select the location you used for the lost password and clean it out and remove the CD, close down the system, and reboot. The Operating System will now start up without asking for a Password and you're on your way. Unless you need to use a password for security in your home or office, there is no practical need for one. Go to thepiratebay.se and look for PowerSuite or ActiveData.

Hi,

Did you check the cable connections? They may have become loose or have obtained some dust. I would suggest to disconnect the cables and reconnecting them. The cables could have also malfuntioned.

Unable to obtain valid IP config

Unplug power to ISP modem, till you see it reboot. Test with a cable to establish you can connect directly with ISP modem. If OK, reconnect with wireless modem. You will have to switch between wireless and regular network adapter on laptop for this test.

Use these instructions to test and see IP's.Go to Start > Search > Type cmd and hit enter key.
In Command Shell:

Type ipconfig /all These are your IP settings.
Type ipconfig /release To clear IP settings.
Type ipconfig /renew For new IP settings.

You will need to check NIC drivers in Device Manager if problem persists.

The DVD player in my set keeps ejecting the DVD mid-play.

Hi well look a DVD is a DVD is a DVD, all you need to do is obtain another one, and I would suspect that it will simply be a standard unit? ALL SATA and IDE are all the same effectively. So what you can do is obtain the correct "Format" of the DVD either SATA or IDE, I suspect it will be SATA, and simply try it, it will do NO harm, and at worst simply wouldn't work The best place to obtain this part will/would be Grundig itself. To get the actual parts number, obtain a service manual, this will show you how to repair the unit as well as this it has ALL parts numbers etc too. Accordingly I provide a download link below for you. Also most likely you would be able to obtain one from your local computer shop too, as said they are all the same...You just need a High Density DVD re-writer just get the one in the service manual, or search the 'net using that data to get one similar etc.

Make contact with Grundig support and they will help you. link below.

http://www.grundig.co.uk/

A SATA drive has only a small data cable/socket and the IDE has a very wide data cable/socket.

below is a place to obtain spare parts ie: The DVD. remember any DVD that will fit and is same standard will work. Use the service manual.

Computer switches on but screen remains blue and unable to obtain cursor

Looks like the hard drive has "lost" the OS.
You have a few options:

  1. Reboot to safe mode (f8) and see if you can access the computer through that
  2. Do a repair of windows using the recovery partition or the Installation DVD
  3. If a recovery fails, get the data off your hard drive and reformat the hard drive and reinstall windows
  4. If this fails, the problem could be with a faulty hard drive,or issues with the graphics driver / chip
Repost if steps 1-4 do not help

Green is for audio. Make sure you have the proper audio drivers. Check the device manager ofr yellow exclamation points. If so you should do a "Windows Update" if it doesn't have updated drivers for your machine try using google to find Packard Bell's support web page.

Start-up shows "Launch Start-up recovery" but am unable to proceed

This is Vista you are running and there are a couple of options. I'll go for the easy one first

Boot and insert Vista install or recovery DVD (any Vista disc will do for this)

Reboot and hopefully it will offer the option to boot from the DVD. Take this option and follow it through until you are offered the option to install Vista or repair your computer. Just follow things though from there and it MAY repair the boot problem.

If it does not offer you the initial boot option then look on the initial boot screen for the boot options key - probably F11 or F12 - and press that during initial boot to obtain the boot options screen

Sounds like the hing on back is broken. Look on the back of the cover, there will be 2 hinges holding the scanner on. Probably a piece of plactic broke and is hanging up one of the hinges.
Possibly a small spring.
