Compressor won't turn on?

Stanley Bostitch 4 gal pancake compressor was working fine then quit coming on when air pressure dropped below 90lbs. Now it won't start at all? I have checked the electrical supply and other tools work fine.

There is a circuit breaker on the unit. Have you checked to make sure it has not tripped. Normally it is a red button on the back side of the regulator. Have you drained the water out of the unit? Does it hum or attempt to start? Have you opened it up to see if you are actually getting 120 V to the unit? You may have a bad power cord. Your unit has a 7 year warranty unless it is used commercially then it is 1 year. Stanley Bostitch also has a 100 year warranty on defects in materials or workmanship. If you cannot get it going avail yourself of the warranty. it never hurts to ask for a replacement or repair.

My bostitch 6 gal compressor keeps running , and running , even goes into a higherpitch motor noise. can i check something ? or clean something to fix it ?

is it building up any pressure on the gauge
if the pressure recorded is around 40 psi or less , replace the failed poppet/reed valves in the compressor head
if it goes to 100 psi then replace the automatic controller for the motor

My fn1664k does not shoot a 2 inch nail all the way into a 2x4

Check the pressure at the gun to make sure the hose is good. Make sure the gun is oiled. The compressed air forces a piston down to drive the nail. the inside of the cylinder may be corroded causing the piston not to move as fast as it should or with as much force. Most air guns are pretty easy to disassemble to inspect. You should be able to figure this out pretty quickly this way.

I have a Stanley Bostitch CAP2000P-OF Air Compressor. It runs constantly and won't reach the shutoff pressure. It will build some pressure. When I turn it off, I dont hear any leaks.

Jim:
There is a leak somewhere... Use a soapy solution at the air tube from the compressor head to the tank (both ends) and at all air hose connections. The bubbles will tell you where the leak is and you can repair the connections from there...

My pancake will try to kick on when the pressure drops, however it will not catch and start. It is like a car that will just not turn over when trying to start. Any thoughts?

sounds like it needs a new start capacitor for the motor and never use a extension cord plug it directly into the outlet and use longer air hose.using extension cords for a air compressor is bad for the motor

I'd pull the cover off to expose top of cylinder head and have a look at any intake air filter. In parts diagram, It appears there is a small one that would likely clog during the texturing process.

Check you model number. I don't think cw0100 is correct. Most 1HP 4 gal pancake compressors are oil-free.

My compressor won't build pressure over 90lbs

Small leak will prevent the unit from building proper pressure. Check all connections with soapy water and repair as needed (including under cover). If no leaks are found check cylinder for scratches. Push piston to top of stroke and check walls for fine scratches. If scratched, pressure is leaking past vinyl piston ring. If no scratches or leaks, most likely reed valves, head gasket or combination of both. Easy test, with compressor running and attained 90 lbs, place finger over air intake and check for good suction (carefull could be hot) . If good suction, then air is leaking somewhere, of no suction suspect reed valves/worn cylinder, if air seems to be blowing out of intake, suspect reeds /gaskets. Good holidays
