Question about JBL Northridge E 250P Subwoofer

1 Answer

Just purchased, won't power up

Just got my subwoofer today.  I was very excited.  Hooked up rca cable and power cord, turned power switch to on position.  No sound. the standby light does not even come on.  It acts like it is not plugged in.  I have tried more than one outlet that I tested to make sure they were working. The power cord that plugs into the back of the subwoofer does seam to be a bit loose, but that may be normal. Is there something that I am missing or did I get a defective unit.

I think it defective everything should fit tight loose wire or plugs caues distortion i would send back if that not an option unscrew blackplate and check fuse they would be first option or if fuse is good you have to have more exp and check volts around power supply to make sure your getting power most likely i would say return because if you poen you made void warranty im not sure though good luck also test power cord to make sure it not defective

Hi, yes there is a rather simple method for testing the actual subwoofer unit, simply plug in a known good rca cord into the input-make sure if there is a switch for level input that it is on the back make sure it is switched to line and not level, next plug in rca cord, turn on unit-stick tip of finger on tip of rca cable. This should gernerate a"HUMM" in the subwoofer if everything is working correctly. Thanks for choosing FixYa, I hope this was of some help, good luck Prodzilla.

I have hooked up my subwoofer and amp to my factory stereo in a 2011 camry. My power wire is hooked directly up to my battery, my ground to the chassis and my remote to my fuse. I have my RCA wires (RCA on...

Rewire your stereo cables as such:

Red- positive - battery
Black - ground - chassis
Remote (Yellow) - ignition switch

The "LINE OUT" should go to your SUB-WOOFER.

The while-lined wires paired with the solid colored wires are either your Front LR and/or Rear L/R.

Cannot get power to sub woofer...

Maybe you could name the subwoofer model so we know what it needs for input.

And we need to be careful with the indiscriminate use of the word 'power' in audio discussions. There's wall power and there's amplifier (audio) power.

In the case of subwoofers, some are self-powered (AC power cord plugged into the wall and an amplifier built-in; usually receives subwoofer-specific audio program via RCA cables from YOUR source); others are passive (just get audio power from YOUR amplifier.

When my RCAs are hooked up to my amp, my subs start hitting without any volume turned on

1. Check Grounding system (Player and Power Amp).
2. Ensure your RCA cable is OK
3. You might adjust volume or bass volume on power amp to maximum, just set all to 50% while you are tuning.

Our FisherPrice SMart Cycle won;t turn on...help!

I would suggest unplugging the 3 RCA connection cords and making sure they are all tight. I had the same problem when I first hooked the system up. After unplugging and reconnecting the RCA cords it worked fine. I do have a problem with the system resetting periodically... will check the power switch to ensure the screws are tight.

can you tell me how your sub is hooked to your amp. is it via the speaker cables or using the amplifier source sub wooker rca connections.
i suppose you have checked all your power cables. if the sub is connected to the amplifier rca output then check the bass sub out level if high enough to drive the auto power switch of sub wfr input. subwoofers normally use an auto power cutoff when no signal. if sub vol level is too low it might not triegger the autopower on.

Cerwin vega ht-10d subwoofer won't work in yamaha reciever

Well, as I know, your Cerwin Vega subwoofer is designed for use with stereo systems. Therefore, it has only 2 channels for input, and 2 channels for output as well. However, you can try this out; the first thing I suggest is that you hook up your main front channels through the subwoofer. All you have to do is to connect the subwoofer input to the front channel output on the amp, then hook up your front speakers to the satellite output on the subwoofer. As long as you make sure that system is working on 8 ohms, I believe this can activate the subwoofer.
