My d100 will auto focus but will not shoot

My d100 will auto focus but will not shoo. I am shooting at iso400, jpg fine, during daylight hours. I also have a red lightning bolt in the lower right of the viewfinder and r06 in the led on top. I formatted the card and the battery is charged.

What exposure mode(s)? Is the flash popped up? You do have a formatted memory card in the camera, right?

Having received no response in over a month, I assume this is no longer a problem.

My D100 will take no more than three shots, then I have to wait before I can take any more. Can this be a battery problem?

personally i don't think its battery related problem, all you need to do is to set the camera in a continuos shooting mode and set the lens in the auto focus mode.(you should have enough space on the memory card and the battery should not be too low)

Nikon D100 shutter freezes up after taking about 5-10 pictures in a row, same lighting same postion some pictures end up out of focus?

are you shooting in raw format? and in hi resolution or low resolution ? If you are shooting in RAW then the buffer of the d100 is full and it needs to empty its buffer before you can shoot anymore pictures

Appears in focus in viewfinder, but isn't

Change your focusing setting to spot focus. Then, focus on your main subject, keep the button half-way pressed while you re-compose the shot and then press it the rest of the way. Does that improve the shot?

My gs500s colors are bright pink and i tried changing white balance and nothing works

Try going into "reset" master mode. otherwise you need to make sure your camera is shooting on the right setting for the light you are using. For example, when shooting in daylight with interior light setting (approx. 3200k) your photos will look off color and yellow or pink because sunlight is 5600k approx.,. . . contrary while shooting indoors with incandescant lighting if the camera is set for sunlight exposure (5600k) the picture will look blue. Make sure you read the manual on how to white balace, but first take the camera out of AutoExposure settings to do all the settings manually. Auto focus and auto exposure are for rookies and these types of errors will happen. Always try to do manual iris and manual focus for best results zoom in and get your focus on the subjects eyes then zoom out and frame up your shot.

Low light no focus

The Nikon D100 custom settings option 22 - AF Assist, controls the AF Assist light.
Check if this has been turned off.

This option controls whether the auto-focus assist light comes on in low light to help autofocus
latch onto the subject.

Camera won't shoot with lens on Auto Focus

Talked to canon support, they suggested to send lense in for review/repair. They said it could be the motor, I think it was a gear problem based on the noises and jerkiness of the focusing action while in manual focus (manual focus gave out as well). Cost TBD - "would definately be more than $50. I shopped around and elected to buy a new lense rather than try to hassle with the repair, shipping, insurance, and the wait, etc. Besides, I have a deadline that I need the lense for, so repair at Canon really became a non-option. I think the cost would've been pretty much the same in the end as the new lense, since this wasn't one of the costlier of lenses to begin with.

THE D100 REFUSED TO SHOOT THE PAINTING IN THE INSERTED IMAGE. CAMERA IN ALL OTHER RESPECTS WORKING FINE. TRIED ALL MODES.

When you say you tried full manual, I just wanted to check that you also switched to manual focus? The D100 has a switch on the right side of the lens, says M, S, C, for manual, single, or continuous focus? You need that in M with a painting like that, or to should truly diffuse subjects like clouds or fog.

The reason it works fine with only part of the painting in frame is that the camera can then identify and focus on the edge of the painting. It could also focus on any painting with linear or sharp detail. Autofocus is rather clever, but not clever enough!

If you had indeed set manual focus, then I admit I'm stumped. Full manual mode with manual focus never refuses to trigger the shutter on my D70; although it does often take pictures I don't understand at first. :) Good luck -- let us know what you find out, please!

Continous shooting with D100 - it doesn't work...

Mine too. It's a worn-out selector switch. Jiggle it and it'll work again. Time delay same. Our college has four Nikon D100s with this problem. Poor switch contacts.
