Question about Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DI XR for Canon

1 Answer

Tamron lens makes a clicking noise

I have a tamron 28 -300mm AF Aspherical XR LD (IF) lens that makes a clicking noise when the camera is switched on, it looks like something to do with the autofocus. The focus ring turns and then clicks for a few seconds when the camera is switched on, nothing is binding, I have stripped the lens and cannot find any fault, I can only think it must be the electronic PCB in the lens and some component has packed up on it, any idea's on what you think the fault is or where I can get a service manual?

It is dealing with the films. when closing the lens in the fabric, the electrical film changed its position to an unwanted situation. This makes noise sometimes. It is not important for functinality of the lens. But it only gives you an unwanted noise. There is nothing to do because film dries as the times passes. It needs to be changed but is not cheap. So it is better to go on to use it.

i have also the same problem with my tamron 28-300 when switched-on, but my lens issue is worst. when swtiching-on there is a noise its like the camera is focusing and the lens in the small window viewer or in the live view monitor is jumping for 5 secs and then after that you can use it normally. Is it safe to use?

Tamron is a third party lens manufacturer and make lenses to fit all popular makes of cameras both film and digital. I'm sure the top two would be Canon and Nikon. So if the lens you have there is a Nikon Mount it will fit Nikon Auto Focus cameras both film and digital

Tamron makes their lenses available with a variety of mounts. A lens with a Canon mount will fit Canon cameras but not Nikon cameras. A lens with a Nikon mount will fit Nikon cameras but not Canon cameras. As long as you buy a lens with a Canon mount, you shouldn't have any problems.

Alan, Does one of the lenses have a solar or polarized filter on it?  It sounds basic but it would alter the type of light brought into the camera, that is a nice lens.  Are you shooting the smae F-stop for both side by side photos?  The 70-210 is a 3.5 or 5.6 right? Just a thought. randy320sgi

I need a manual for Tamron Camera Lens 28-200/3.8-5.6

You didn't supply what kind of Tamron lens it is. I'm gonna go ahead and give it my best shot on a guess: Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF).
If I'm correct, you can download the manual here: http://www.tamron.com/assets/pdfs/A09.pdf
Hope this helps!

Tamron 28-200 AF Aspherical LD. Does it have manual focus? If yes, where?

There should be a switch just in front of the back of the lens marked "AF" and "M". Set it to M for manual focus, AF for autofocus.
