Kenmore He Front loading Dryer Overheating/Tripping Breaker

Hello,
My Kenmore front loading dryer has started to overheat and trip the breaker. It smells like something is burning up. When I reset the breaker and unplug the dryer and plug it back in the dryer will start back up and run normal for about 10 mins. but then tripped the breaker again and seemed extremely hot and a burning smell as coming from it again. Any ideas???

Sounds like either the venting is plugged or filter/screen has debris inside, or there is also a flap inside the venting. When the dryer needs to heat up, the vent flap closes, when it needs to cool off, then vent flap is supposed to open.

The heating element is shorted. This is an electric dryer, right? replace the heating element. Make damn sure it's un-plugged when you work on it!

The dryer keep tripping the breaker

It sounds like the current draw is too high This would be due to overload of dryer, motor overheating binding of the drum assy.. First re level the dryer, next disconnect the power and Vacume out the lint inside around moter, try spinning the drum manually to see if it moves freely( some resistance is ok) Another possibility can be lose electrical connections on the breaker or outlet. Disconnect power before testing. Let me know if these tips helped solve issue

Kenmore dryer trips the breaker

THE PROBLEM COULD BE THE CONNECTION TO THE BREAKER ITSELF , BREAKERS ARE SET UP FOR CURRENT OR AMPERAGE SURGE AS WELL AS THERMAL IF THE WIRE CONNECTING TO THE BREAKER IS LOOSE IT WILL HEAT UNDER LOAD AND CAUSE THE PROBLEM YOU DESCRIBE , TURN OFF THE BREAKER AND RE TIGHTEN THE SCREWS AND IF THE TERMINALS ARE DETERATED MIGHT NEED TO REPLACE THE BREAKER IF POSSIBLE CUT THE DAMAGED PORTION OF THE WIRE CONNECTING TO THE BREAKER STRIP THE END AND RECONNECT

Kenmore Elite keeps tripping circuit breaker and small flash

Hello jaybebo84,
May be coincidental that you had a short circuit ocurr in the back panel after your wife dusted but the problem is that you now have a short circuit which will trip the breaker. If you can unplug it and slide it out to gain access to the back panel, remove the cover and look for carbon or flash burn on some of the components in that area. Usually when you get an arc like that the evidence of the component is pretty easy to identify. You may see some carbon or equivalent on a component which once located, could simply be removed and replaced. Sears usually has exploded views drawings of all their appliances and you may be able to get a copy from the store service area. Good Luck..
Regards,
Rick

first dryer should be on circuit by itself..if dryers runs ok for a while before tripping breaker call electrican to change breaker..change it not ck it ..too many times had electricans tell cust breaker ckd ok but after explaining to cust a breaker can not be ck without load they had breaker changed and solved problem ..not just old breaker but even new ones can cause problems..if breaker kicks as soon as dryer is turned on ck wiring at connection where ac is connected very seldom does any other issues with dryer cause immediate tripping of breaker

HE4 Kenmore Dryer tripping Circuit Breaker

If you put a light load in the dryer will not trip the circuit at all. That means heavy load made the motor work harder and over heat, it going to trip the circuit , pretty soon, the motor will be warn out.

Tripping circuit breaker

if the dryer trips the breaker right away its a problem with the dryer if its after a while its the breaker. call an electrician to make sure the wires are secured tight to the breaker and the breaker is rated correctly. i can almost guarantee its the breaker.
