Remove the float bowl nut and clean out the holes in the bowl nut. There is most likely debris in the holes. If this is not the problem I need the engine model number to assist you more.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Just doing a follow up here. Is the engine still running rough after cleaning the float bowl nut? If so I really need an engine model number to pass you the correct information.

Engine starts but won't continue to run. Choke doesn't stay closed after starting. will stay running only if I hold choke closed manually.

let it warm up with choke closed manually after it starts to stall with choke closed open it and dont let it stall u can learn to play with the choke a little to get it to run right GOOD LUCK!

I have a pressure washer, that i start with the choke on. as soon as i shut the choke off it stalls

First thing, if you are using last years gas stop and get some fresh gas, old gas is enemy #1 of small engines. You may need to keep the choke on longer and then only take it half way off. if it does not warm up in a minute or 2 you most probably have a fouled carb. you can try some carb cleaner that you add to the gas and see if that works.

The engine starts cold after 2 or three pulls, runs ok initially, but seems to have slightly less power. After a few minutes I can turn off the choke. When teh engine warms up and runs for about 15...

I would first try draining the carb bowl, if you look at where the choke lever is and look below that you should see a clear red tube with a flat head screw below that, if you just turn the screw out the carb will drain. If you still have an issue you are going to have to clean the carb.

Won't start, can't remember starting procedures and dont have manual

Make sure the fuel valve is on. Generally that means pointing down inless there is a diagram on it.

Turn the switch on.

Pull the choke on the carbuerator on full. There will be a picture of a butterfly valve set it so that it is closed. Pull the cord till the engine fires. let it sputter for a second, then open the choke. If the engine dies right away, do all of the above again but once it fires, only open the choke half way. once it warms up a bit open the choke completely.

Reconditioned B&S pressure washer will not restart

Some suggestions:
Is the gas old? If in doubt replace it.
Try removing the air filter and spraying carburetor cleaner into the carb Then try starting it. If it runs for just a minute, then stops, the carburetor needs cleaning.

Pressure washer stalls off choke

Probably the carb's low/mid speed circuits are clogged real bad. The only fix I know if they are as bad as you describe is remove and soak/clean carb, and this may not work as some of the circuits are as fine as as human hair, and the solvent may or may not work. Then it' replacement time.
