Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines

1 Answer

Tub leaks when draining only. Washes good but drains all over the floor. Disassembled the unit and found that ALL hoses were in very good shape. Connections were tight. Seems to leak just below the exterior tub. Can you give some clue as to the cause of leak? Machine is old and was donated to the Hawkins Helping Hands. The unit Model# LXR9245EQ2. S/N CJ3654401

Here's a diagram of the tub and it's parts which may help you locate which part is leaking. You can also look at the other diagrams involving the motor to see if it's involved. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=257497&diagram_id=85518#d85518

Front loader, frigidare, not draining properly.

your washer has a drain catch, a small plastic cylinder with holes in it, that catches things left in you clothes. It may be restricted. You may have to clean your drain catch. It is located inside the hose that comes off the bottom of your outer tub, at the bottom, and goes to the drain pump. The easiest way to do this is to pull unit out enough to where you can tilt it back to rest against the wall. At the bottom of the washer there will be an oval shaped hole. You can access the hose with the drain catch inside of it. Remove the clamp at the tub with a phillips screwdriver or a 9/32 or 7mm socket. Before you do this you may want to remove any water still inside tube with a shop vac attatched to the washer drain line. If not alot of water will come out on the floor, or just get some towels, it will be messy. Once you have removed the clamp, remove hose enough to where you can pull out plastic cylinder inside hose. Make sure when you reinstall hose, that the hose is pushed up all the way against the tub, all the way around, or it will leak. Good luck!

My whirlpool ultimate care 2 washer was leaking underneath while running, I removed the back panel and dropped the drain hose to the floor and extended it out the door to the yard and while filling the tub...

The drain hose must be at least level with the top of the actual tub in the washer. The water pump is only bad if it is leaking. If it is leaking from the front you either have a cracked outer tub, but it sounds like your water pump, easy to change out just get the model # and order it through an appliance parts distributor. The cost is about 40 to 50 bucks. good luck!

Washer is leaking from 'underneath' not fast, during the spin/drain cycle. All exterior hoses and drain hose are connected tightly and dry. What should I check?

make sure the tub seal is in good shape.
there may also be a small hole in the drain hose coming from the tub and or leaving the pump

Water does not drain, it fills up and washes, won't drain

The pump could be defective or a clog in the drain hose. You need to access the back panel and look at the bottom of the tub for the pump (plastic housing with hoses attached). Unplug the washer and remove the back panel check for clogs or kinks in the drain hose. You will need to test pump by connecting a volt meter to the pump motor leads to see if voltage is on the motor during the drain cycle. Plug the washer in and advance the washer to the drain cycle and read the volt meter to verify voltage on the pump. If you have voltage turn the unit off and unplug it again. It may be easier to lay towels on the floor and tip the unit forward onto the towels. This will leak water from the tub so get all the water out or do not tip it all the way back and use something that will not mar the washer.
Undo the motor connector and hose clamps and drain excess water in the hoses in a bucket. Remove the pump and check if the impeller turns which could be impeded by an object. If it does not turn freely see if you can find what is stopping it from turning which will be fixable. If not order a new pump and replace it. You should also beware the pump uses diaphragms and turns the motor in the opposite direction to block draining when the washer is recalculating wash water.

hi
  • If there is no water in the unit:
    1. Make sure that both valves at the water source(s) are turned on all the way.
    2. Check for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valves
    3. Check inlet valve operation
  • If there is water in the unit:
    1. Check Drain pump operation
    2. Pressure Switch Hose is in good condition and properly connected to Tub and Pressure switch
  • Check there is not a siphon problem
  • Check wire harness connections to:Inlet Valves, Pressure Switch, Drain Pump, Flow Meter, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
  • Check all hoses for possible leaks
  • Check pressure switch operation
  • Check flow meter operation

Maytag stack unit Model LSE7806ACE leaks

It is most likely the tub seal. Take the two phillips head screws out of the front cover located low on the cover lift forward and remove. Set the machine two low level and fill with water only no soap or clothes when unit starts agitating look at the bottom center of the clothes tub if water is leaking here then you will need to replace the tub seal and tub bearing assembly.

LEAVING WATER IN TUB

I think your problem is in the garbage disposal unit. There is a knock-out seal in the outlet on the disposal unit where the dishwasher drain tube attaches. If you don't remove the knock-out then there is nowhere for the dishwasher water to go, and it will spill out onto the floor.

Kenmore built in dishwasher drain quit working

if it looks somewhat like a elongated and cropped figure 8 it is what we around here call a clutch drive. if it looks like a 6 point star, it is a torx drive.. Be aware, the screws holding the guard in place may also be holding the pump in place under the unit. if so removing the screws would allow the pump to fall off the bottom of the unit.

If the unit washes, the motor and pump are working (the same motor/pump that washes the dishes also drains the unit)

if the motor is not running during the drain cycle, it is most likely the timer or a connection to the timer

if the unit is not running at all, it could be the motor or timer

if the motor/pump is working, I would first ensure the drain line is not clogged (pump may be trying to drain the unit and forcing the water out were ever it can due to a blocked drain hose, this would explain the water on the floor. I have found that when a drain line is blocked, it is usually blocked where the drain hose connects to the drain pipe under the sink.

let me know what you find and we will Fix Ya.

Washer leaking water on floor

Need to check drain pump and its hose connections. If its not from the drum seal then that's usually where the leaks occur.

when you put the drain hose on the floor the water will ALWAYS drain out. When the drain is in the proper location (above the height of the tub) and the water is still leaking, if its leaking as it fills you might have a loose hose,or a cracked water inlet valve. If after the water is in the tub and its still leaking you have a bad seal.
