Question about Garden

Poulan/Weedeater BV1650 gas trimmer: Will not start/run without pouring gas into carb. Took filter/pickup out of tank. Seems to blow through okay but plan to replace. Pulled both fuel lines (one for primer, one for feed). The primer line has a coupling/splice just inside where it enters the tank. There was a ''ring'' of what appears to be fuel line on the other side. I must have poured the rest of the line with whatever type of fitting that keeps the line in the bottom of the tank when I poured out the fuel. I am assuming the primer line pulls gas into the carb and that with the remainder of the line off it is pulling air. I cannot find a parts diagram that shows what is on the end of the line and we do not have a parts stocking Poulan dealer in the area. Could you telll me what this part/fitting may be and if I could substitute something to keep the fuel line in the bottom of the tank. Thank you.

The filter sounds like the weighted type. If so, it keeps the pickup line on the bottom. The piece that keeps the tube in the tank can just be a piece of a little larger tube pressed over the pickup tube. Yoi will have to thread new tubing in and pull it out the fill hole. Place the keeper on the tube and press the filter into the pickup tube. Once you are ready, pull the pickup tube inti the tank until the keeper touches the tank side. Hook up to the primer and try it. Good luck...Lee

Diagram fuel lines tank primer carbutor poulan pro weedeater

I have no diagram but here are the instructions on how it goes.
The small diameter line out of fuel tank (has filter in-tank on end) connects directly to the side of the carburetor that has the fuel pump....that is the cover without the hole in it. Other larger diameter fuel line out of tank connects to the longer nipple on the external purge/primer bulb. The bulb "pulls" fresh fuel from the fuel tank to the carb and then out of the carb to itself, where it then "pushes" any air/old fuel back into the fuel tank. The remaining larger diameter fuel line in this setup goes from the metering chamber (has cover with writing on it and a vent-hole) side of the carburetor to the smaller nipple on the purge/primer bulb. Again, on the primer bulb, the longer nipple has a line going directly from it to the tank. This is the return line. The shorter nipple on the bub has a line from it going to the metering chamber side of the carb. If the purge/primer bulb is on top of the carb...small line from carb body to small hole in tank with filter. Larger diameter line goes from the bulb on the fuel pump side of the carb to the larger hole in the fuel tank where sometimes the line is held in place with a nylon nipple connector that keeps the line from pulling out of the tank. Otherwise, the line should enter the tank for about 1/2" or so.

Poulan pro weedeater will not start without starting fluid and wont accelerate after starting Once started the first time it is easy to restart and idles fine, just cant accelerate the motor without it...

Your carburator is clogged.
1st make sure you have FRESH gas.
Empty and clean the fuel tank
Remove and disassemble the carburator and soak it in fresh gas for about 15 minutes to disolve any gunk.

Using a can of small carburator cleaner ( available at Lowes, Home Depot etc.) blow out all the ports.
reassemble and refuel with clean fresh gas
The little carbs clog easily

Need to know how fuel line end in fuel tank on a weed eater. have two lines. on large one small witch line dose the filter fit on and were does the onther line stop inside the tank

Your Craftsman trimmer is made my Poulan/Weedeater and uses 2 different sized lines. The smaller diameter line is the fule supply line and runs from the pickup filter in the tank to the supply side of the carb. The supply side is usually the lower of the fuel nipples on the carb. Make sure to put enough line in the tank so the filter can drop to the lowest point of the tank while you are trimming. The larger diameter line is the return line, and will connect to the nipple on the carb that is closest to the primer bulb. From the factory, the return line went into the tank and had a small clear plasted connector on the end to prevent it from slipping back out of the tank. This fitting does not connect to anything in the tank, it is merely a return line. If the return line fitting is missing, just make sure to leave a couple of inches of line in the tank. If the filter is missing, you MUST replace it...it will save you from having to clean the carb out every 10 minutes of run time.
Good luck!

Weedeater does not stay running

its possible. i could see it being that the carb diphrams are not pumping enough fuel to the carb, the filter screen in the carburetor has a varnish glaze on it or plugged and could be the jets are partiall plugged.

Replaced Poulan 25cc weedeater fuel lines/Now no start

You have/had a fuel filter in the tank. The connector goes to that filter, I think. The length does mean something but I don't know any way to figure it without a manual. You could try to figure from the total length. The fuel filter hold the line toward the bottom. Good luck.

Craftsman weedeater will not start

The most probable problem is no fuel delivery to the engine.

1. Check/replace the fuel in-tank filter, you should be able to easily blow through it once removed. The primer bulb will sink down and not return quickly if the filter is bad. Fuel will not return to the tank via the return line if the fuel filter doesn't allow fuel to be pulled in.

2. If fuel is returning to the fuel tank when the primer is pushed then your problem is inside the carb.

3. To verify this put a small quantity of gas in the lid of a water bottle (half full). And pour it into the carb throat. Replace the air filter to prevent a backfire from shooting flames out. Try to start the weedwacker. If it runs and then dies the problem is inside the carb.

4. If you are really good at working on things with small parts you can clean out the carb and replace all of the gaskets to solve the problem. If this isn't for you then you should take it to a lawn shop and have them clean the carb and replace the gaskets.

NOTE: Replacing the gaskets is very important because the gaskets get stiff and the fuel pump action of one of the gaskets is reduced or stopped.

Hope this helps, Karl
