Question about Hayward 250kbtu Ng Pool Heater - Inground

1 Answer

Have a Pentair Trton Minimax Plus pool heater model 150. Replaced the Thermistor Probe. First night worked like a charm. However, now it will heat for about 15-30 minutes and shut itself down with all lights including red service light on. What can the problem be? Should I call a tech to come out or can I order part myself and fix it?

Hello,

the problem of your heater is from the element it is know as the heat provider it is most time in silver colour

the problem is not from the thermistor bass on the information you have pass across to me

what your heater need is replacement of a new element so that it can carry out it function again

this means that the old element in your pool heater is weak it need replacement

if you are sure that you can carry out this practical with out mistake then you order for the part and fix it up

Good luck and thanks for using fixya.

How do i get my pool heater to come on?

Open the service panel and look on the back of the board for 2 white or yellow wires that plug into it... disconnect it from the board, really wet your thumb with saliva, and touch the two connectors where you pulled the wires off of... and try to fire the heater... I have a Pentair Minimax NT 250k electronic heater. Turned the heater on today and it does not get through startup sequence. It flashes - - -, then flashes 888 (with red service light), then back to - -...

I would say the problem is the thermistor. The board will light up, the SW switch is green, but you get a display that flashes dashed lines and then what looks like 888. That is a start up code. The thermistor is located on the side where the water enters the heater. There are two screws at the top of the side panel. Undo the screws and lift the panel off. The thermistor is a probe with 2 small wires coming out and lead to the control panel. It is a very simple fix and is usually the problem if you have not experienced any other issues. The part runs between 30 and 45 dollars. Most pool stores would carry this.
thanks let me know if that fixed the problem

I have a Pentair minimax 250k electronic. Opened pool today and when I turned power on to the heater, it won't get through startup sequence. Dashed lines flash, then 888 and service light comes on. ...

Most of the time I have found the problem to be the thermistor. It is located on the water manifold of the heater. Usually the panel lights, flashes then to 888 and back to dashed lines. SW light is green, and service light is red. It costs 25 to 45 dollars, and takes 5 minutes to repair. New thermistor looks identical to old so replacing it is very easy.
thanks please let me know if this was helpful
