I would start by opening each 1 turn. Then 1/2 turn until I got it running. While running, set the low by turning the screw out until the saw starts to slow down. Then turn in until the same thing happens. Set the screw about 1/2 way in between. Do the same with the high but do it while running at a higher RPM. Do not run it wide open unless you have the chain in wood, cutting. Good luck...Lee

Carbsettings

Both the high an low speed circuits should be at about 1.5 turns out from seated. Gently screw them in until they seat, then turn them back out 1.5 times. This should be close to the factory setting, but will likely need to be refined a bit from there. Start the saw and let it run for a few minutes. Adjust the low speed circuit at idle until it runs smoothly, then rev the motor to full throttle and slowly turn the screw out until it starts to run a little rough, then turn it back in until it clears up, usually about an eighth of a turn. If it still doesn't run right, it may need a carb cleaning and rebuild, or other work. Good luck.

Saw wont rev up or idle

First thing, try new gas.
If that doesn't do it, you need to adjust the low and high speed circuits on the carb. A good starting point is 1.5 turns out from fully seated. On that saw I'm not positive if you will have access to the adjustment screws unless you pull off the plastic caps that may be covering them.

I have a stihl 025. the carb i had had 1 adjustment the replacement carb has 2 set screws, what should the settings be to get started with

Usually when purchasing a new Carb, they are set very close. No adjustment needed. But if you want to play, turn both the High and Low screws all the way in then turn them bot out about 1.5 turns. that should get it started. The you will need to tweak the High sped and then the low speed and then the Idle

Car settings stihl 026 with wt 194 carb?

Hi Alan Cowart
Before you remove or try to adjust your low and high speed jets you should always count the number of turns it takes to lightly seat the idle mixture screw and high speed needle adjusting screws.
Be sure to write the number of turns down on a piece of paper so you will know how many turns from the seated position to open the jets when you go to reinstall them, or if you remove them for cleaning or replacement.
If you have aready tried to adjust them then the adjustments below should get it running for you for final adjustment when warm.
Normally you will adjust your idle jet to 1/2-3/4 turn open from the bottom seated position.
Then you will re-adjust the low speed of the engine when the engine is warm by turning the idle screw in or out till the engine runs smoothly at idle speed, around 1200 RPM.
The high speed jet is adjusted to 1 1/2- 1 3/4 open from the bottom seated position, after the engine is warm.
Then re-adjusted by turning the High Speed jet adjustment screw in or out till the motor runs smoothly at high speed.
Alway use the "lightly seated" method if you have not changed the screw settings.
