How to clean debris from impeller? Pump is not drawing water from the skimmer/pool .... I'm hoping the impeller is clogged and not something more serious like a shot motor.

There are normally 4 to 6 bolts around the outside connecting the wet end from the dry end. Undo those bolts and the front of pump should come away. Then you should be able to see impeller. Using a piece of wire poke it through each slot of the impeller to clear the blockage. Then put back together again. Remember to prime the pump

Impeller runs, no water comes out. Removed output hose, air is blowing out when removed from sump.

Remove bottom cover, check for clogged intake holes, and make sure the impeller is solidly attached to the shaft. Can you see the water in the sump? Is the sump full of sand at the bottom?

Dear sir i have a hozelock cascade 1500 pond pump, which is 2years has been fine until today were it just works for about 30 secs then nothing for about 3mins,then it works for 30 secs again then...

It sounds like the pump is overheating, this can be caused by a few things. First check the filter for clogging and also while you have the filter casing open take a look at your impeller. Gently turn the impeller to check if it is jammed, it's ok if there is a little resistance from the magnets but it should turn readily. If the impeller feels like it is grinding or sized you can try to gently remove it from the housing. The impeller is attached to a barrel shaft made of magnetic material that will wear down over time and is replaceable. If everything on the intake end seems normal, we check the output line for clogging or restricted flow. To detach the output line from the main unit simply unscrew the pressure bolt at the base of the output pipe. Open the valve on the output pipe and probe the pipe for clogs using a probe (a bit of wire coat hanger will serve just fine). Gently probe for a soft mass that will feel very different than the plastic. If you do feel a clog simply bend a small hook in the top of your probe and carefully snag and extract the clog.

If after these steps you fail to locate the issue most likely the issue is with the motor and the unit will need replacing.

I have a submersible SPO 3-40A, when switched on i can hear a faint electrical hum, buzz but it doesn't do anything else. Any ideas? Thanks

Try to see if you can see the impeller by taking out the discharge tube,,if yiu can see it try turning it by hand too see that it is not locked up...if the impeller is not locked up then you will need to see if the pump motor has a start capacitor on it...if this capacitor goes bad the motor will not start turning and will hum then if enough time has passed the pump will blow the breaker

My pressure gauge is reading 0 when the pump is on. I have the pool water level good and filled the pump tank before turning on. I have used this unit 11 yrs now and 2 yrs ago housing front was replaced....

1. Make sure multi-port valve if on "filter" (gotta start with the easy answers)
2. Remove the V-clamp holding the pump housing together and start inspection.
3. remove diffuser to gain access to the impeller.
4. check impeller for clogs (very common if around pine trees)
5. If impeller in free of debris, inspect housing o-ring, diffuser o-ring, drain plug o-ring, and shaft seal (if any one of these parts as failed, this pump will not prime and the filter will have no pressure)
6. If all these things check out, then it is possible you have a suction side plumbing clog. (is the skimmer and main drain protected by screens? if so, a clog is very unlikely)

Note: the most common cause of a loss of "prime" on a pump is a failed shaft seal. It is cheap and easy to replce.
You will not want to remove the impeller or do any serious work on this pump unless you have replacement o-rings for the internals. New o-rings and seals is what allows these pumps to work properly.

Hope this helps

Pump turns on but the impeller does not turn. I can turn the pumpo on but until i make the impeller move it will not turn. It is straining trying to get the impeller to turn. Once the impeller is turning...

sounds like your problem is the centrifugal switch inside the motor housing or the start windings in the motor are bad. Not sure about your peticular pump but most submersibles are filled with mineral oil, take care to save it when you disassemble, it needs to go back in

F35 keeps coming up on the screen. What does that mean?

Hello, the F35 error typically indicates slow drain condition. Check for any clogs or kinks in the drain line. Also check that the pump is not clogged and that no pump impeller blades are missing/broken and that the impeller moves freely. Any broken/missing blades or if the impeller won't turn freely will indicate a faulty pump. Hard objects can sometimes make it to the pump and cause damage.

Hi , I have an elctrolux washing machine, and it stops half way through the cycle 'saying' E20. Does anyone know waht I have to do Thanks RN

E20 is difficulties in draining for washing. which can be drain tube kinked or blocked, drain filter clogged or dirty or the pump impeller behind filter is getting jammed by a coin or cotton or anything wrapped around it, remove filter and look at back of hole and see if impeller will turn use a long screwdriver to turn it, obviously with the power off
