I called Danby, apparently this used to be a common reoccuring problem with this unit, it would be be missing the starter thread piece that attaches to the unit and then allows you to attach the hose when it was shipped. They are shipping the part out to me and say 4-5 days shipping, at no charge for part or otherwise.

Now I know why I got a new unit on sale, it was missing a part in the box.

Otherwise I am looking forward to having a dishwasher in another week or so.

It sounds like your motor is stuck in the reverse position. It could also be in your timer. I would suggest calling a qualified technician for the one. Just because the parts are pricey and depending on how much a new dishwasher cost. Atleast get a diagnosis so you can know if its worth fixing or buying a new one. E3 code

Received from Danby customer support:
"The error code of E3 tells us that the unit is not getting the proper water temperature to continue thru the entire cycle. Before starting the dishwasher and attaching the quick connect assembly to the faucet, please make sure that the water from the faucet is warm to the touch; you can then attach the quick connect assembly with hose to the faucet and start the unit. If the water temperature does not reach 120 degrees F the dishwasher will not be able to run thru the entire cycle properly. If this is being done and the same code comes up, we will need a service tech in you area to diagnose the problem for us. For a warranty servicer in your area you can reach us at 800-263-2629 Mon-Thu 8:30-5 or Fri 8:30-4 EST."

Danby counter top dishwasher

CLR should do the trick, read instructions on back of the bottle. Also there are some dishwasher cleaners that you buy.

I bought one at Safeway. Small bottle, has a picture of a dishwasher on it. It has a wax seal that melts when you run it on the hottest cycle upside down. It cleans the inside of the dishwasher.

Of course this is assuming that its build up.

Danby DDW496W Leaking Brand new

Check your hose connections in the back for tightness and sealing (there should be some rubber seals inside the screw-in connections) and if tight and not leaking, you might have a loose clamp inside the unit, or a leaking/damaged hose, or even a defective/leaking pump. If it is brand new and returnable I'd return it for a new one rather than try to fix it...
