Check that you did not re-insert the battery "upside-down".

How reset bios password form a acer travelmate 240

You will need to turn your travelmate upside down and remove the ***** from the hard drive panel or Ram cover...try both. You will see a small battery(cmos battery). If you can see where it is plugged in and can reach it,unplug it for about 10 seconds and plug back in then put your covers back. That should reset your bios so you dont need a password. You can go back in your bios at a later time and set a new password if you wish :)

BIOS

Step 1:
This might not be your laptop it might give you a guide into the cmos battery
The CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) battery saves basic settings on your computer. If the date and time function on your Acer notebook isn't working, chances are your CMOS battery needs to be replaced. Separate from your laptop's main battery, the CMOS battery is about the and shape of a coin and is located inside of your computer. Changing the battery yourself isn't the simplest task that relates to your Acer, but it isn't terribly difficult either. Here's how.

Open the notebook screen until you can easily access the keyboard. Locate the plastic bar that borders the top of the keyboard. Insert the flat head screwdriver at one end of the bar and gently pry it up until you can grip the edge with your fingers. Pry the other side of the bar up with the screwdriver and pull out the entire bar, being careful to mind the ribbon cord that connects the keyboard to the computer. Remove the two screws on either side of the keyboard that secure it to the computer. Slide the keyboard up and place it to the side. Remove the four screws on the exposed metal plate that covers the motherboard and remove it. You should now see the CMOS battery in the bottom-right-hand corner of the motherboard. Remove the battery by gently pulling it up and off the motherboard. Replace it with the same model battery (available at any computer store or online). Reassemble the computer the same way you took it apart. Acer TravelMate 6592G Keyboard Replacement Guide http://tomkaminski.com/acer-travelmate-6592g-keyboard-replacement-guide

Acer travelmate 2700 bios password and where is the CMOS battry on the mother board

Hi there,

your bios battery is soldered into the mainboard, its under the keyboard, next to the modem board and the bios chip itself.

In order to get to the battery you would first have to dissasemble the laptop, remove the keyboard, power buttons, and the top of the machine. You may also have to remove the display if its holding the top of the cover in place.

Removing the battery is no guarantee of reseting the password. You need to study the bios chip and find out which pins of it you need to short in order to reset its memory. In some cases the password might be stored on another chip.

How to Disable Acer Travelmate 240 BIOS Password?

Hi,

To disable the bios password on your laptop, you will need to remove the cmos battery on your laptop for some minutes and insert back, the cmos battery is located on the motherboard of your laptop, once the cmos battery is removed from the motherboard for some minutes, the bios password will be reset, and the bios password will be disable.

Take care.

Hi I am having a ACER TRAVELMATE 4720 LAPTOP I forgot the CMOS password kindly help me..

when I have had this issue in the shop, we would open the bottom of the laptop , find the cmos battery (looks like a watch battery) and short out its terminals for a minute or so. this will reset the bios to defaults, and likely dump any passwords set in the bios. if this helps you leave some feedback. Cheers

Acer laptop does not boot up but gives no errors

Go to the Acer Website and see if you can update your BIOS. That's where the problem lies, in the future it is a good troubleshooting tip to either use a digital camera to take a picture of all your settings in case you need to revert back. You will have to go thru each section of the BIOS and change one thing at a time, reboot, and continue process until you find the error.

Where is the cmos battery for an acer aspire 1690 laptop

CMOS is usally on the back side of the laptop. you might have to take the back panel off. The bios is flashed onto the board its really not a chip that is interchangeable it is just there to hold the info for your bios
