Question about Dell 944 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

My 2 year-old pulled a thin transparent plastic strip out of our dell photo 944 printer, and now it no longer works. The plastic strip appears to be the only thing he did. Where does it go, and how do I put it back?

The plastic strip you are referring to is the mechanisim to move the cartridge carrier back and forth, you may need to take it to a certified technician to see if it can be replaced or if not damaged put back into the printer.

Thin strip pulled out of printer

if it's kinda skinny and has dots end to end, it is a critical peice of your printer, the machine will never print without it and your best off to replace the machine because they are pretty difficult to put back in on most machines.

Dell 944 printer making clanking noise and plastic strip is out it does not print

Your ink may not be seated completely. Please ensure you have securely placed the ink in it's seat, in the proper direction (usually tan side in toward rear of printer). You may want to consider a new printer. If you print at high volumes a more robust printer would be a cheaper choice in the long run, as you will not experience issues such as this.

Dell 944 error message 1102 after fitting new DellBlack Cartridge

hi there,

you can try these steps:

try to remove the new black cartridge. get a clean cloth. gently wipe the copper strip of the cartridge. unplug the power cable of the printer. gently wipe the contacts of the black cartridge carrier (where you put the black cartridge in). close the carrier, plug the power cable back in. install the black cartridge. then check for the error code.
if you still have same error code, try the old cartridge.
if the old cartridge still works, you need to contact dell for the replacement of the black cartridge (if you purchase the black cartridge from dell)
if the old cartridge is also giving same error. try the steps on the color cartridge as well, it might be with the color cartridge error.
or both.
worst case scenario the contacts on the printer carrier might be broken already.
but in this kind of situation. 98% it's the cartridge that's causing the issue.

have a great day :)

Dell printer 944 shows carrier jam and when you press the arrow button as shown on the screen but the cartridges move to the left and right banging both the sides and then stops on the sides.hope anybody...

Try this procedure:

1.Disconnect the power supply from the back of the printer.
2.Open the front cover of the printer where the cartridges are located.
3.Look for two black bands that span from left to right (they should have one serrated side and one smooth side). Just above the black bands there is a transparent strip; this strip is called the Encoder strip.
4.Flick this strip lightly with your finger to make sure that it is running smoothly from left to right. You may need to do this two or three times. CAUTION: Do not pull the strip!
5.Close the front cover of the printer and reconnect the power supply.
6.If the problem persists, you may need to contact Dell Technical Support.

it is called encodder strip which helps the printer to print.the whole allignment system works on it.you have to open the top cover of your printer by removing the screws.fitting the strip is just a job of 10 seconds, but opening the top cover is bit hard.

Small thin film fell out

Try to cut off a thin plastic strip. just try to copy that. it basically guides the cartridge on where to print. also i remember that it should have a spring connected to the holes.
