You havn't given any information on the brand or a model or why you changed brushes or anything so you could have 1 of about a million different machines out there..Il take a shot anyway. You may have left off wires going to brushes or forgotten to plug a wireing harness in. or my favourite one, you put the brushes in but forgot to release them so they can spring out onto the motor.some brushes are held back inside there caseing to make it easy to install without them springing out.once there in you must release the carbon brush so it can make contact with motor armature.

Quite probably the motor brushes. Disconnect from mains. Tilt machine backwards as far as possible. On motor, disconnect wires to brushes. With a multimeter, check continuity between brush and any segment if the commutator. If open circuit, replacing the brushes should do the trick. Also visually examine the commutator for damage

Wt you mean by spin in washing machine

its a separate cycle all by itself.
Say U hand wash something in a sink and instead of wringing it out by hand U can put it in the washer and press this SPIN cycle.
So U can also use it to spin more water out of your garments after the regular wash and spin cycle.

Slower spin speeds mean -

  • Cheaper washing machines
  • Quieter washing machines
  • More stable washing machines
  • Longer lasting washing machines because there's less wear and tear on the bearings, motor, carbon brushes, suspension etc.*
  • Gentler on laundry
  • The drum spins for approx 4 or 5 mins. No water is added and you dont add detergent or fabric softener for the spin only option. The object of the exercise is to centrifugally remove excess water from the garments in the drum. They will still be damp but not sopping wet after the spin cycle
  • Spin takes the water out, extract is even better

Hotpoint wma22 fills with water but won't wash or spin

Suspect motor brushes need replacing.
Simple task accessed by removing the top of the washer and releasing the clips holding the brushes into the motor - clip on back of brush - to remove the brush assembly.
Replace complete brush assembly.

WFD 2460 will not start wash cycle after it has filled with water

Isolate power and water supply and gain access to the main drum motor. Check for condition of carbon brushes by removing them and repla
ce if severely worn. Check wiring loom around motor and right back to module controller. The clicking is obviously power being supplied to motor via the loom to the motor. finally check for any dry solder joints or burnt areas on the circuit board controlling the motor.

Frigidaire washer won't wash

fault may well be motor brushes need replacing. check continuity across the brushes - you should be able to do this with motor in situ

I have a Hotpoint WMA36 washing machine that the drum won't spin during the cycle. Even when I put it on spin only it does'nt move, do the brushes need replacing

quite possibly. the only way to check is to check continuity across the brushes or if you don't have a multimeter, take the brushes out and examine. brushes are held in by two screws each. it is a bit arkward with the motor in situ so you may find it easier to take the motor out

Hi, Does the drum turn during the wash cycle? When it comes to the spin cycle does it go through to the end without the drum turning? It sounds like it could be the motor needs new carbon brushes. Regards, Tom.
