What happens when you dial "9" into the intercom dial tone? Is that the line you wnat to auto select?

A lot depends on the system your phone is connected with. In a TA series on an idle phone, press PROGRAM 11 for no preference (what you have) 12 for Idle line (what you get when you dial 9) or 13 and a number from 1 to however many lines you have to select a specific line.
Those commands are followed by the STORE button and PROGRAM to end the programming.

RETRIEVE VOICEMAIL FROM PANASONIC KXT-7731

In the settings menu there will probably be a menu for voicemail somewhere. There should be a number for connecting to the voicemail delivery service. If you are with O2 it is 901 in UK.

Does the Panasonic KXT 7731 2-line have a music/message on hold port on it's KSU?

All Panasonic systems that the 7731 would plug into has an MOH port. You provide 8 or 600 ohm sound levels and do some programming to make it work.

Panasonic KX-t771, the light won't go out on the message and there are no messages

On my typical 7731, if I press the MESSAGE button on an idle phone, it tells me where the message came from. It could be from any internal station, not only the voice mail system.
Dialing 700# on the intercom cancels all messages. Keep in mind that the 7731 works on several different Panasonic systems. Mine is the TA-824. That command works on most TA series (308,624,824) . On the other systems the code would be 700 and your extension, or *700 ext on TD,TDA,TDE,TAW, NCP etc. boxes.

How do i program the panasonic kxt-7731 so when a call is coming in i can just lift the handset to answer instead of pushing the co line

You have to do 2 things: Make it ring and turn on Line Preference-Incoming Ringing line. The first is done from SYSTEM programming in programs 408/409/410 for DAY/NIGHT/LUNCH. The second is defaulted to Ringing so if the phone rings, it's supposed to work. If you've changed it, then from your idle phone you press PROGRAM and dial 22 STORE. (21 is no preference and 23 plus a number is a specific line).

I have a kx-t7030 system. On one of my lines the phones fwd/dnd button flashes and the phone doesn't work properly. It's not the phone, any phone I plug in does the same thing.

Actually, you have a 7030 PHONE. The system it's connected to could be anything from a KXT-61610, 123211, TA-624/824, TAW848 or any of the other Panasonic systems.

If you happen to be connected to a TA series box, try dialing 710# on the intercom. It will cancel DO NOT DISTURB. (714# sets it). In passing, the # can also be replaced with 0, so a sequence dialed on the intercom that starts 7140 would have set it).

I have a Panasonic KX-T7731 phone. I would like an outside line to connect when the headset is picked up rather than the intercom.

A 7731 phone is compatible with about 18 different Panasonic phone sytem cabinets. Panasonic calls this line preference-outgoing and, in a TA series, which you're most likely to have, you press PROGRAM and dial 12 STORE for idle line, or 13 and a number from 1-8 for a specific line and STORE. 11 STORE puts it back to no preference.

You're in luck. Without picking up the handset, press PROGRAM the line 1 button, and dial 0 001 (or 01) and STORE. Press PROGRAM to exit.

If I "guessed" right, on your TDA system, you have line 1 back.

Can you tell me how to get out of SP-PHONE which has a red light

Under my Intercom light I have a green light (7731,7735). I'm not sure why yours is red, but here are a couple of things to try.

Press "1" on the keypad without picking up the handset. That turns off Background music and the display will say BGM On or Off.

Press Intercom or pick up the handset and dial 790. That's the extension reset code.

If neither one of these work, post back with the model number of the phone system cabinet the phones are plugged into. It's probably a Panasonic TA-624/824 but there's a chance yours is different.
