Cant say for sure what the problem is, but most probably it is due to a bad RAM module. Try removing it and after removing the dust on the RAM and its slot Re-insert it. Also try cleaning up other areas with a blower too. It should workout.

Dell VOSTRO 460 beeps during startup and will not startup.

many times if the fan over the cpu chip on the motherboard fails to run or blow, an beeping alarm will begin and PC will not start. the cpu has to be kept cool so if fan fails the startup is stopped. have found lose wire connections from fan to motherboard terminal, or power supply may be blown, try checking those first. if nothing lose then wiggle those wires to see if the fan starts.

Why does my Dell Vostro 200 keep beeping?

Defective memory can cause blue screens, no video, beeping sounds. It's possible that you have a defective memory stick.

It just mysteriously shuts down and will not stay on for any length of time. It sounds like there is a short somewhere. I have a vostro 200

When the CPU overheats then it will shutdown (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down.If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes this problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan. If the fan and heat sink is clogged withdust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use acan of compressed air to do this.

here is the explanation of what can be possibly wrong,
1 long, 2 short - Video adapter error: Bad or improperly seated video card
Repeating beeps Memory error: Bad or improperly seated RAM
1 long, 3 short-Bad video RAM or video card not present
4 short Keyboard communication failure: Bad keyboard controller or keyboard

This is what the typical explanation is. To avoid assumption, i will need info on *********** board...thanks,

Vostro 200 won't go to startup

The 4 beeps suggests a memory issue. If you open the case and pop the memory modules out and then reinsert them it may clear the problem. One way to check if an individual memory stick is bad is to reboot as you put them in one by one.

I hope this helps.

Dell vostro 200 4 repeated beeps on start up

Disconnect all devices from the power supply EXCEPT the motherboard
Remove any extra cards including video etc.(plug monitor into the onboard)

If you hear any beeps these can indictate where the fault is.
either of these sites below will help you further with that

Beep codes Pc

More beep codes

Power up the pc and see if the fans are working.
If not then double check the power connections to the board.

If you still have no fans it is time to suspect the power supply as the probable cause.

If the fans worked then you should have gotten a display which told you there was an error and offering you a chance to go into the BIOS. ignore it and shut down the PC.

Now connect one drive only and boot again.

Repeat that until you identify the component that is giving you a problem.

Once you find the problem then remove or disconnect and carry on with the rest to see if another component might also cause a problem

If there is only one problem device then you may want to investigate that device further, Unless you don't mind replacing it
