Question about Amana ABC2037SS Air Conditioner

1 Answer

I have amana prestige central air unit. the fan on the unit is not turning. there is a box that i am assuming is a fuse box on the outside of the house, connected to the a/c. when i opened the box there is a black plastic pullout switch inside with on and off written on it. i pulled out that and noticed it had metal prongs on it. is this the fuses or do i have to put fuses in this prongs and reinsert the black pull out switch

I have an Amana heater/airconditioner (Prestige I think) that is not cooling. The outside compressor fan was not spinning, so i I changed the capacitor on the unit. It now spins, yet vent air not cold

If that fan stopped your compressor overheated, shut off on thermal overload. Carefully cool compressor with water hose and restart. If the big copper is cold ,small copper warm, compressor is running. Check capacitor on compressor

My outside amana prestige ac unit ( rcb30c2a) gets very hot when it is turned on, but the fan does not turn.

Hello, try spinning the outside fan with a stick or a small object you can spin the fsn blades with, if this gets the motor running the capacitor must be replaced. If the motor does not start by manually pushing it the motor will have to be replaced.

I have an amana 90 home air conditioner w/ a amana prestige compressor. compessor runs but cooling fan not turning ,fan is not locked up and unit has power .of course w/fan not turning home is not...

Could be a couple of reasons for this:
1. Condensor fan motor bad.
2. Condensor fan motor loss of power.
3. Condensor fan motor capictor bad.

Unit has control for fan for low ambient operation and unit is low on freon telling fan its cold out side and dont run.
Hope this helps. wally

Amana Prestige Central A/C,inside fan on out side fan not running, breaker in house good out side switch on,is there a breaker in the out side box ? it is not seen.Out side fan feels reel warm but not...

Hi!!

Replace motor fan and capacitor of the outside unit. it is a very simple task. Turn breaker OFF. Then all you have to do is remove about four screws from the top grill, about four more that fasten the motor fan assembly, unplugg electrical connectors and label them and install the new one and switch fan blades.

No special knowledge is required to perform this job. Cost: about $140 +-.

On the other hand, you call a HVAC technician, they supply the motor and capacitor, otherwise they won't give you warranty. Cost $300. Look on the Yellow Pages for one in your neighborhood.

AC not blowing cold air

Remove the outside fuse from the unit that is not cooling... remove all the sheet metal from around the outside unit.. see if there is a lot of grass/weeds/ bird nests, or other material in the coils.. if there is... use a high pressure hose to clean the coils completely!!!!! (I had this done to mine...worked much better!!)..if this doesn't help,, I am afraid it might be time for some freon... and yes..its $$$$...

Compressor wont turn on. fan runs central unit

first check you thermostat settings and make sure that it is on a cooling setting if ok it can be the fuse that sends the power to the outside unit if fuse is ok it can be the capasitor for the compressor if ok you may have to check the compressor for open windings or ground fault so you will have to replace the compressor or the relay which is after the thermostat

Electric went out the central air is not cold and if you turn off the air the fan is still running

The fan on the outside condensing unit? or the furnace blower fan?

Could be 1 of several causes. Blown fuse in disconnect, stuck contactor in the outside unit electrical box. You should have it checked by a qualified service technician as you can get seriously hurt. If you want a referal, email me your location and I will send you some referals.

I have a Amana air command 80 sse central air unit. The unit is comprised of a big fan unit outside, and a unit in my garage. The big fan stays on even though I turn the thermostat off. Do you know what...

This sounds like your condenser contactor, contacts are stuck. They weld together if an ant or other debree get between the contacts. Turn off the electric breaker to the outdoor unit as if the outdoor unit runs without the indoor unit running you may damage your outdoor unit compressor.
I would suggest you call a service company. The part should run retail @ 30 to 40 dollars then the service call charge. This repair should take less than 1/2 hour.
