Question about IBM Wheelwriter 6 Typewriter

Typewriter won't erase letters completely.

We have an IBM Wheelwriter 6. When you hit the erase key, it won't erase the letters completely from the page. Does anyone have ideas on what part may need to be replaced to fix this problem?

You need to replace the erase tape. It's a clear tacky roll of tape in parallel to the ink tape which lifts the letters back off the page and when it's fully wound from it's reel onto the pick up reel it just reverses direction each time, but as it gets increasingly used it loses efficacy and must be replaced.

Correction tapes do have a shelf life and can dry out. You should try replacing the correction tape and see if it is better. If that does not fix it, does the tape lift up high enough to cover the entire letter? If not, you have a lifting problem and will need a tech to fix it.

The letters I key in do not type until I hit enter.

If this is a WW6 it must have the display option. There is a slide switch on the display that is probably in the wrong position.
