Question about Honeywell Programmable Thermostat Heater

1 Answer

I have just installed a Honeywell programmable thermostat RTH2310B1002 replacing my old Honeywell that contained mercury. I hooked all the wires to the corresponding colors and letters and the system runs the fan but no cold air comes out and temperature on thermostat reads 80 degrees all the time. I don't think the air conditioner is bad it only took 15 minutes to install the new thermostat and the a/c was working right before i replaced it no more than 20-30 minutes before. how do i resolve the issue?

If you are unsure about which wire goes where, that may be the source of your problem. The color coding can be confusing when changing from old to new. You are on the right track, you can hook the same 4 wires to the new thermostat without the jumper you had on the old thermostat. The jumper wire that is on the new thermostat can stay with no problems. Just connect the wires to the same terminals on the new one and your good to go!

I just installed a Honeywell 5.2 Day RTH2310B Programmable thermostat and I had to deal with the same situation: 2 wires, one white one black. After reading the edvice in one of the blog, the solution that worked for me was: BLACK ON Rc terminal and WHITE on W terminal. My furnace is running fine now. Hope it helps.

Where to hook up wires?

First, take the old thermostat off the wall.

there should be different colored wires coming out of the wall still connected to the old thermo.

on the new thermo, there might be a wire color chart in the instructions or on the inside of the new thermo.

You should be able to line up the colors and install them that way. let me know if you have any other problems

It sounds like your reversing valve energizes the opposite from how you wired it at the thermostat. Check the instructions.
