Question about Boating

Runs but wont go more then 15 MPH

Starts fine, idles out to main lake fine, but when you give it gas it won't take off or come up on plane. Engine RPM goes to 6,7,8,000. I've checked the choke, its off. I've checked for blockage in the intake, there is none. Any ideas?

It sounds like the Rubber hub in the prop is slipping. There are 2 systems used to prevent gear damage, shear pins or Rubber hubs.

The outboards and I/Os' use a Rubber insert in the prop. Unless yours is an OMC all the rest use the Rubber hub that is pressed into the prop. It has to be sent to a Prop shop for replacement. Some OMC props are 2 piece inside with the prop sliding over a replaceable do-it-yourself hub insert. Its kind of slick because OMC did lower the cost of every replacement prop and keep you on the water with a fix you can do.

The RPM for your problem is the Red flag. The engine did not refuse to rev up. This means the gas and spark are working and thats all you could want.
With the RPM I suspect you are overreving the engine at 8,000. The hub will get looser and eventually you will have no propulsion.

If you are anxious to get back on the water you could buy a spare prop. Contact the dealer for any change you want to make in pitch or size.

1986 dodge d100 225 engine dodge oil light goes off when idle stays on when giving it gas

It sounds like the oil sending unit is bad. the safest way to check it is to pull out the sending unit and install an oil pressure gage directly to the motor start it up, bring the RPMs up and see what the oil pressure is. Ideally you want at least 15 psi at an idle and prefereably anything above 25 psi at crusing RPM.

Engine wont catch

Catch?
cranks fast
starts every time.
idles fine hot or cold , or both? hot idle not too fast.
i race engine , in park and neutral, I can hit 3500 rpm easy, can you.
i release brakes, (brakes are not packed in ICE , are they?)
I select 1gear or reverse (A/T or m/t)
the car moves or dont move, which is it, my guess catch = no move at all.
I try to drive, i look at RPM and MPH
RPM moves up and MPH track.
track means they both move in a linear progression.
RPM rises and for all RPM increases MPH also increases.
does it?
if all that works then we have an engine power issue.
weak on hills?

its probably the kickdown cable look under the hood its the cable that runs next to the throttle cable see if there's alot of slack or if its too tight and not letting it release all the way.

My 1997 Jimmy runs fine in idle when I take off the vechile is fine until it reaches 20 mph it won't accelerate and the rpms increase up to 3000 but no speed. What's wrong it's a 4 wheel d

Sounds like 2nd gear in the transmission is slipping. Cars usually shift at 15-20 mph from first to 2nd. First check the trans fluid.

When you try to give it more gas at 50 mph, it starts to hesitate

It sounds as though your engine timing is off. Engine timing changes with engine speed. It is possible to adjust it yourself if you have the knowledge.

Car runs fine then all of a sudden won`t idle faster than 15 mph

i would take it in and have it checked before it leaves you stranded somewhere. theres a reason the check engine light comes on so theres something not right with your vehicle
