Yes, that's normal. It's constantly sending and receiving information when web browsing and so is working far harder than usual, that's why battery life is much shorter on all mobiles when browsing.
Unless the phone overheats and turns off there's nothing to be concerned about. Even if it does go into overheat protection mode that may also be within acceptable design limits if you're using it in a hot climate.
