Question about Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital Camera
Screen displays fine when viewing already taken pics and vids, but goes black when changed to setting to take new pictures and vids. What could cause that?
When I first turn of the camera, the Canon splash screen flashes and bring it to the screen with all the options being displayed on the view finder, but the back ground is all black. It does appear to have a gray area somewhere to the left of the little rectangle box in the view finder.
I just had this problem! And the answer is simple - just hit the DISP. button and the image should return.

Do you see the picture when you download it to your computer? If there still is no picture then the imaging sensor is bad and you should replace the camera. If not it's either a connection or lcd problem. In any case most likely replacement will be your best and most economically viable option.
