I don't think it is the brushes, I would check the cord, they bend and break inside the insulation where you can't see it. You have to take it apart, get a volt meter and check the wires for continuity and if they are ok, then get the brushes out, they are right there too, take them to the hardware store and match them up. You can try plugging it in again and bending the cord around at both ends to see if it jumps. Hope this helps.

My dewalt 984 burnt out stopped working, replaced brushes but still not working

Put a meter on the two wires that come from the switch to the brush holders, if there is no voltage then it is the switch. If there is voltage then make sure the new brushes are not stuck in their holders.

Hi, I have a dewalt dc925 drill. When running the

They all do that a bit. The sparks when starting up and stopping are normal. If it has been used alot brushes may be a good idea but before they need to be changed it will spark quite a bit.

It will not hurt to inspect the amount of brush material remaining.

Drill stopped work ing when hot. One drill we bought stopped after 10 6mm holes. The others work when you pull the trigger and then sometime they don't.

Sounds like a burned out motor.

Sometimes you can replace the brushes and make them work again.

When operating that drill, make sure that you are not overheating the motor.

Depending on the material that you are drilling, you may need to use the drill on a slower speed in order to not overheat the motor.

Another way is to have more than one drill, and switch to a cool one as soon as you notice heat on the in-use drill.

If your drill is battery powered, stop using the drill and change the battery as soon as the battery dies enough to slow the speed of the drill.

Operating the drill under reduced power is very hard on the motor for several reasons.

Drill just stopped? not working

These tear the brushes out. You can not use them for hammering. It is a design problem.

Replace the brushes and use only for straight drilling.

2 Milwaukee 18VDrills stopped working - NEED repair help

This may not be as easy as you think. The first one my have trouble with the trigger switch, but it could be the motor. Without checking continuity, or replacing them individually you will not be able to tell which one is bad.

Another problem could be the brushes. That is what is most likely wrong with the 2nd one. Remove the 2 black screw caps on the rear of the drill, and remove the carbon brushes. Do they look worn? If so they will need to be replaced. If this is the case the motor may be breaking down, and wearing the brushes down too fast.

The good news is that Milwaukee Tools, offer a 5 year limited warranty, If you have a receipt, or can read the serial number. Take it in, or mail it to a service center. They will take care of it for you if they are less then 5 years old.
