That would depend on the preamp. Name it. A true preamp outputs a variable signal.

It's not clear from the manual what the state of the volume output is without the VCA. Most amps default to full ON and the preamp attentuates the signal with a volume control. Try it with a signal that fades in slowly so you can intervene if it gets too loud. If it's full ON a preamp will control its volume.

My Bose SA3 2 channel amp keeps blowing when I raise the volume with non-bose speakers, why is this happening?

Could be the impedence of the speakers that you're connecting. The bose amp was designed to drive 8 ohm speakers.

I have a Stanton T60, but I connect to my Bose, but my bose has no phono input, tried aux but low volume... Do I need to buy a preamp?

You don't need a PRE-amp but you do need an amplifier. The auxiliary plug on the Bose is only for iPhones etc which have a margin of their own amplification which your turntable has none. The phono plugs are for the turntable to supply a low power signal to the amplifier to boost it to be audible at volume.

Sa3 bose not sound from boselink but external input yes

It depends on the Bose system you connected with the amp and the type of Bose remote you are using?Does the indicator LED at the rear of the amplifier stay solid green when you press the ON button on the remote? If not, check that your room code setting on the remote correspond with the micro switches setting at the rear of your amplifier.

I plugged my adator jacks into the aux port and no sound

check that the input source it set to aux on the bose. to check it is on turn the volume up a bit and touch the contact end where you plug into the source. it should gently hum when you touch the connectors then you know that the input is live on the bose. i take it you have it switched on lol

We just got a new Dish HD/DVR Receiver and need the remote code for the Bose remote control to operate it.

Here is what I did for my Bose Solo Tv to work on the Bell 9242 receiver.( see page 17 of Bell 9242 guide) 1. Hold down the aux button until all lights flash. 2. Press 2 to ensure Aux is set to audio. 3.Enter code 761 and press the pound (#) button. Now to have the satellite remote default volume to Bose Solo do the following. 1.Press and hold AUX 2.press # pound 3. Press the + side of volume 4. Press 0 5. Press pound ( AUX button will flash 3 times) 6. Press SAT mode 7. Test the volume on Bose Solo. (see page 22 of Bell 9242 guide)

Bose SA-3 amp and a non bose sub.. I keep blowing the amp..

How many ohms is your sub? The SA 3 Amp can only handle speaker(s) 6 ohms and greater. A lot of subs, as I understand, are 2 and 4 ohms typically. If yours is 2 or 4 ohms, then that explains it. The speaker would be "straining" your amplifier and blowing it.

Bose SA2 distortion

As the distortion is on both channels it must be something to do with something that is common to both!
My guess is an IC. Check to see if it uses an IC for the main amplification. They are big with loads of pins coming out of them. Sometimes marked STK and then a number. If you find one it will have gone! Replace it with the exact part.

Bose 151 main with amp

Does your tv have stereo outputs? if yes all you have to do is run RCA red..white jacks into tv outtput then run the other ends into the amps tape or aux or cd input and your done! If you dont have outputs on tour tv you will have to but an RF converter box (about 20.00 at wal-mart) and hook that into the tv and the cables will run out of that to the stereo!
