Question about Sanyo PLCXU30 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Sanyo plcxu30 turns itself off after 20 minutes

My plcxu30 is quite old and the lamp has needed replacing for a while now. Recently it simply turns itself off after around 20 minutes use. Is this due to the bulb or does it sound more serious. The unit is in no way overheating.
Please help !

This can be caused by the lamp, the older it gets, the more current it needs, so the lamp supply will shut down!!
even a bad capacitor on the power supply can be the cause ( 2.2 uf > 105 degrees)

Carefull : never remove the cover/ put it back when PJ is on or in standby!!
a short circuit can easily be made with the edges of the cover.(metallized).

Can't reset lamp timer after lamp replacement on Panasonic PT-AE40000

I have a Panasonic PT-AE4000U and could not reset the timer after replacing the bulb with a, non-Panasonic branded bulb. Calls to tech support were not very helpful. It was another bad customer service experience. Through troubleshooting it myself, I discovered the solution was simply to unplug EVERYTHING (serial cable, hdmi cables, etc.) from the device, power it off and back on. Follow the procedure in the manual, the timer immediately reset!!

After having the projector on for 15-20 minutes the lamp will go out for 1-2 minutes then turn back on with no intervention This will repeat at no set intervals. The projector is not quite 5 years old...

The ambient temperature in the room is to high.
Try lowering the room temperature. If that doesn't work
get a small fan and place it near the projector to provide
extra cooling. The projector is running border line on
high temperature and just needs a little extra cooling.

We have a z2 that when you turn on the light turns green then the machine turns itself off. The bulb is very old. Is this a bulb issue?

You are very likely correct. I have 2 of these units myself, and if I recall, when the lamp finally fails the unit will still try to start normally, and then flash the power and/or lamp replace light and turn itself off. You may be able to tell by looking at the lamp itself. Pull it out and look into the end that looks like a flashlight. There should be a cylindrical part sticking up in the middle behind the front glass. Make sure that it isn't broken and/or crooked. This probably does not mean the lamp is good, but it's often a very definite indicator that it IS bad.

Lamp goes out after 10-15 seconds

Recently had a similar issue.
When I took the lamp out (Let it cool for awhile first), there was dust all over one side preventing air from the fans from cooling the lamp, so it shut itself off after getting too hot.
