How to clear blocked siphon for AEG dishwasher

After 6 years of once-a-day family use my AEG OKO_FAVORIT 6281i dishwasher starts up OK but a few minutes into the cycle begins flashing error code 20. At this stage there's a litre or two of cloudy water sitting at the bottom of the machine. A non-AEG repair guy took one look and said it's the logic panel. How can I tell if he's right? According to page 32 of the user instructions, error code 20 means the 'siphon is blocked' and I should be able to clean it myself - but how? (Not by sucking on it I hope! Yecch!) The diagrams do show a 'drain hose' but nothing labelled as 'siphon', so I'm assuming they're exactly the same thing. Is there a wimp-friendly way of cleaning the siphon?

SOURCE: After 6 years of once-a-day

Hi,

20 indicates a drainage problem. Now, if the appliance has drained it would indicate a problem with the pressure switch.

If the machine was laid on it's back or side water could enter the pressure switch.Remove the side panels and locate the pressure switch and tubing. (right hand side if memory serves me correctly), disconnect the pressure tube and blow down it to clear any water, debris or blockage. If any water drips out of the pressure switch, get the hairdryer on it and thoroughly dry it out. Basically it's not detecting that it's empty. Please note, it could be the main PCB at fault but it's best to rule out everything else first.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

The easiest way to empty the dishwasher would be to use a small container and empty most of the grubby water. Then take a towel or two and dry it out.

Now about the error code - does it come back when you turn the power off and on again?

Looks like what you need is available at

Good luck with the new house. Hope the dishwasher works well for you.

Try to run it with dishwasher cleaning kit (no utensils) to make sure everything is clean - that way you will get more life out of it. The cleaning kit (usually Finish) is sold in the supermarket in the detergent section.

This seems like the anti flood system (polystireen float / micro switch) at the base of the washer is triggered,\. This puts the washer in pump out mode and stops inlet of water via the inlet solinoid. Dry the water on the base and then check for any water leaks. (pipe leak
