If u can acess the motor there will be an idler pulley, usually with a spring that you will have to pull tight. Wrap the belt around the pulley, then the motor shaft. Release the pulley and try it.

Drum is hard to turn. When running, there is a loud high pitched squeal. I oiled the pully area in the back, and the noise stopped and the drum turned, briefly. Now, the drum doesn't turn at all. ???

if you got oil on the belt or the part of the pully where the belt rides then the belt is sliping and wont turn the drum.

you will need to get the oil off of the belt or buy a new one and you will need to get the oil off the motor pully and the idler pully and if any oil is on the drum.

This is where I would start given the information you have given.

The dryer is not turning where do and how do get to check the belt, if it is broken or maybe sliped off?

you will have to remove the front panel. screws are on the inside of the door, may be two on the bottom corners, with a flat tip screw drive gently pry up on the top corners. remove panel disconnect door switch, the belt goes around the drum to the motor and has rollers on the back of the drum. I even think on the backside there is a rest button. Hope this helps Tim

Dryer takes a least two cycles to dry a load and just started making a strange noise.

hi,if you belt runs blower and tumbler,it could be lose belt,or worn out. the blower creates draft in dryer, and tumbler to fluff up. if the speed of tumbler or blower is not rite it will take long time to dry.and the nosie is the belt sliping.

Removing the back of the dryer

to get at belt you will need to get true the front of dryer. When you have top up there should be 2 screws on both inside corners on front panel remove them and lift up and towards you the front panel should come off. After that look under drum .Sounds like your belt sliped off the idler pully you can then put belt back on and reverse the steps. If any more help needed feel free to ask hope i fixya:)

dryer won't run, but hot air blow and humming when turned on
Belt is off, idler is off or broken. Replace the belt and idler. Make sure it is installed correctly with tension on the belt. It will take care of your problem

When I try and start my ge dbb3300eaoww dryer it buzzes as if it wants to start if I spin it with my hand it will work. I put a new belt on it and it does the same thing.
Motor start switch is bad. This is typically replaceable with out replacing the motor.
Will take care of the problem.

My drum will sometimes stop turning in the middle of a cycle, and the motor just hums. I pause the dryer, open the door, rotate the drum, unplug and plug the electrical, and then it will usually complete the cycle. Does that mean the belt is "occasionally" slipping? How do I check this?
Replace the belt. It has stretched to the point it no longer can carry the load. Should consider replacing the idler at the same time. This will take care of the problem.
