Question about Sony DAV-SR2 System

Open Question

My Sony DAV- SR2 System won't shut down

When I try to turn the system off it starts flashing "Standby" untill i pull the plug. Its starting to get annoying to have to pull the plug every time I accedentally turn it of. I think the reason is that the system has been on for too long (several months) whithout rest.

SOURCE: Blinking standby light system will not turn on

I was having a similar problem and determined that there was a short in the speaker leads for the center channel speaker. The leads to the speaker were touching, after being moved, slightly while housecleaning. Once short was eliminated, unit powered on and worked with no problem.

SOURCE: my sony dav-s-400 system keeps activating headphone port output.

Just had and fixed the same problem that hundreds of people are suffering with this system!!
Sony DAV s400 - same problem, won't play though speakers and display indicates that headphones are plugged in - when they are not. Fairly easy to fix and took me less than an hour from start to finish:
1) Remove top cover
2) Remove circuit board that has Audio In/Out phono scockets (to get access to Amplifier Circuit Board)
3) Remove Amplifier circuit board (has the speakers attached)
4) Turn it over and remove copper heat shield
5) Resolder joints where the big brown capacitor is and where the wires go to the front headphone socket...and any other dodgy joints that you find
6) Reassemble.

SOURCE: how do i connect external DVD player to DAV SR2

SORRY, YOU CAN'T CONNECT AN EXTERNEL DVD PLAYER TO WATCH THE MOVIES.. BUT YOU CAN ENJOY THE AUDIO WITH OTHER PLAYER...

SONY DAV SR2 DOESNOT HAVE THE VIDEO INPUT... SO U CANT CONNECT VIDEO.. BUT U CAN CONNECT AUDIO INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCE THROUGH RC LEFT AND RIGHT PINS.. (ANALOG)

OR U CAN USE OPTICAL DIGITAL INPUT AUDIO.

Your unit has DC Offset(a damaged amplifier) which is why it keeps shutting down. If you are interested in repairing your Sony, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. Thank you.

Speakers Crackling and system keeps going to standby.

Hi,
It sounds like you may have a problem with the sound pc board. If the system shuts down or goes into a stand by mode, then it means the system is detecting an internal problem and is shutting itself down to avoid any further damage. You may need to have it serviced but that could be a little expensive. You can always buy a used replacement receiver if the speakers and sub is still working good.
Hope that helps.
