Look for hidden screws under any labels or rubber feet. Otherwise it is likely friction fit together with tap and slot locks. Then you will need to pry it apart. Your best option is to open, remove the harddrive you find inside and install into a new external hard drive chassis. Your drive has most likely developed bad sectors, if your data is precious do not run software recovery programs over it since this can stress the drive and cause it to fail completely, take it to a data recovery company. If you do wish to try it yourself use an imaging tool like dd_rescue for linux, also remove the drive from the USB enclosure and connect the drive directly to the machine.

This warningmeans the hard disk will fail sometime in the near future. You need to back upyour data regularly before the hard disk fails or you will lose your data. When the hard disk fails, you need to replace with a new one and installWindows on the new hard drive to get your computer working again.
If you cannot boot up your computer then -
Remove the hard driveand connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a workingcomputer's USB port. If this computer detects it as an external storage deviceand you can open the various folders and files then back up your data. If not you are in trouble, there are companies that can recover data fromfaulty hard drives BUT it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services.
Here is the Procedure for Connecting External Drives to Computer.Several brands of computer does not recognise external drives when connected to USB expansion slots, and Slots of front panel,So connect your Ext HDD to back side onboard Slots.Because there is a lack off USB power surge voltage to detect a large capacity exteral drives. Some time it is does not recognise by many computers, when USB power surge voltage is low.
I think it helps,
If you find any difficulty post a feed back we were happy to assist you
if the datas aleady deleted, then you have nothing to lose. Right ?
What you need is a 2.5 to 3.5 inch IDE ribbon cable connector.
this will enable you to put the drive into an IDE slot on the PC internal motherboard ( primary/secondary )
Unless it,s already 3.5"
boot the computer, see if it recognises the drive. And format it.
then you may be able, to re-fit back into the external casing, and use as an external again.
