As propane is used it can create frost on the tank or just cause the tank to feel cold. this is normal. this will be worse when the tank is almost empty.

This is normal. As gases expand, they get cooler, and the faster they expand, the greater the cooling effect. If you run the stove with all burners going full blast, you'll get the greatest chilling effect, and under certain conditions frost may even form on the cylinder and regulator, such as on a cold, damp morning.

Mechanical refrigeration - your home refrigerator and the air conditioner in your car - take advantage of this effect.

Check to see if Coleman has an attachment to replace the regulator, so that you can use a five gallon cylinder with your stove and your own regulator.

SOURCE: Black soot on Coleman propane burner

Had same problem. Coleman tech support said, " clean with pipe cleaners". No directions....I would think they would provide a step by step protocol. So, I chose to take the knobs off and use the pipe cleaner where I could. I was able to take one of the two burner control knobs apart. After sticking the clean in every nook I could find, I put back together, and the flame on that burner is back to normal,

Good Luck--Daryl in Burnsville, MN

How do you connect the propane to the stove

Assuming you are referring to the Coleman Campers Grill Stove which is a side by side grill and stove unit than it is a pretty simple set up. All portable Coleman stoves set up basically the same. There should be a arm known as a regulator that came with the stove. The narrow end of this attaches to the right side of the stove and screws in. Then the propane bottle screws into the other larger end. make sure all connections are screwed together tightly. For more clarification check out these instructions:

Why does my coleman stove regulator leak gas from the hole on the top of the regulator

Its a safety feature of the regulator. The regulator is designed with a pressure release valve. This has happened to me twice: once with a carbon dioxide tank for my kegerator and once on my propane stove. In both cases I left the regulator (designed with a max pressure rating of X psi) attached to a full bottle in the sun. The heat caused the pressure to exceed the limit of the regulator and the release valve popped. A welding supply store may be able to reset/replace the mechanism but in my case I just bought a new regulator for about $15.

Ho cold waas it out? remember that when its cold out the presswure of the propane tanks are real low and you have to warm them for the pressure to go up. if your by your car then you can place them inside with the heater going till they warm up ofr now worm them up inside first. good luck
