I have a Becker Grand Prix radio model BE1480, serial#9536122 to replace my old radio in my 1979 450SL. When hooking it up in the car it gives me a signal the says WAIT. Does that mean I have to put in...

Yes. It means that several incorrect codes have already been entered into the radio.

You will need to leave the radio powered on with the supply uninterrupted until it changes to CODE or - - - - shows on the display. This can take several hours and the key must be turned in the ignition to Accessories On to prevent the power automatically shutting off.

Once WAIT goes off the display you will need a code. This can be obtained from the serial details you have.

I recommend you use this site which does codes for me regularly on radios that I repair. They are fast, cheap and extremely accurate and always willing to help with any difficulties that may arise.

Hope it helps. Thanks for using FixYa..

I own a 2008 ford focus 2.0 TDCi. I recently sent it in to the ford garage and they removed the battery cable. The radio now asks for a code to be entered and I do not have that code as I purchased the car...

The radio SERIAL NUMBER is required for a code
Sometimes pressing buttons 6 & 1 together or 6 & 2 will display your Serial Number Otherwise remove the radio from the dashboard and post the SERIAL NUMBER found on a label on the casing
It usually begins with M++++++ or V++++++

Refer to the section of your owner's manual that addresses the car radio. Each car radio is different in the way you set the clock. If you've installed a car radio other than the one that was manufactured with the car, consult the manual for that radio.

    • 2

Know that if this is the first time you're setting the clock or are setting the clock after installing a new battery in your car, you have to set the hour and the minute of time. Often, you set the clock with either the radio station up or down arrows. On some car stereos, you use the CD track selector buttons for setting the clock.

    • 3

Using either the CD or radio selector buttons, set the hour first. Push the button labeled "Set" or "Clock" and then set the minute with the same procedure. When setting the minute, some manufacturers allow you to move through in increments of five by pressing and holding the button. If the time of day were 2:49 p.m., for example, you would push the button 13 times, including nine times to display :45, then four additional times incremented by one to display :49. Push the "Set" button or the "Clock" button.

Determine whether your car stereo is equipped to automatically change when Daylight Saving Time begins and ends. If it hasn't changed at 2 a.m. of the time-changing date, you know it isn't equipped for this. In that case, set the hour either forward or backward and the appropriate time of the year.

If you can't figure out how to set the clock on your car stereo, wait until noon on any given day, disconnect your car battery and reconnect it.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. You can find the radio code in your owner manual if you have it. If not, you can get it from the dealership. They will charge you a fee though. You will need all your vehicle info as well.
