Try another needle and set the tension a bit higher.

SOURCE: the needle wont stayed treadedwhile

My trouble shooting suggestions are:

check that the thread is in the thread take up lever eye correctly
Is the top tension set too tight, ie should be on 5
Is the thread catching somewhere in the thread path?
Is it catching on the thread spool itself, sometimes they have a little notch cut in the top edge to hold the thread tail but it could be getting caught in there during sewing. If so, turn thread spool up the other way or use a mushroom cap on top to hold the thread off the spool top edge.

just go through the top threading path checking thread is into all thread eyes correctly and not catching on anything and that it is threaded correctly, it should be one of the above causing this.

My needle will not stay threaded. Should I reset the tension? When it begins to sew lots of thread comes out and the thread becomes very loose.

Not sure if this will help, but is worth a try:

Remove the top thread from the machine (NEVER pull the thread up--ALWAYS clip the thread by the spool, raise the presser foot, and pull the thread DOWN through the needle from the thread tail end).

**ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Verify the thread path is correct.

Test your machine and see if the top thread reels out smoother. If needed, adjust the top tension until the top & bobbin threads meet in the middle of the fabric.

My thread keeps breaking and the bobbin tension is too loose

adjust the top thread tension one number or letter higher at a time
and sew on a scrap piece of fabric till the stitches look normal

The needle thread breaks
1. the needle thread is not threaded properly
2. The needle thread tension is to tight
3. The needle is bent or blunt
4. The needle is incorrectly inserted
5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew
6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing
7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle
